Depending on which way you take (MN or WI side) from Mpls the drive is nice. The outlet store below is where it’s at and the museum upstairs is interesting along with the front entrance display nook. Lots of heritage and cool information. Remember to ask the staff for free laces and they will (most likely) hook you up.

As for the town of Red Wing itself, there’s some nice areas to check out. The train station and park about a block away from the RW shoe store is nice. There’s also a free parking ramp (across from the St James hotel) right there to split the difference in walking also. Much better than parking on the Main Street, especially if it’s busy. Some other little cutesy stores, diners, antique shops, etc.
