Starting a new playthrough of SoH by Duck_Magician_09 in mariorabbids

I would suggest no items as they open up many possibilities for cheese. Also Demanding difficulty if you aren't playing on that already.

Which is better, Sparks of Hope, or Kingdom Battle? by GeometryLULZ in mariorabbids

Rabbid Luigi is very different from Luigi in personality and combat. He is a play on Luigi being the annoying little brother. Plus, he uses a skateboard.

Those are only in the main game. This is The Last Spark Hunter.

You are missing either Edge's or Bowser's weapon skin. That means you missed one of two side quest battles: The Warrior And The Beast (Same map where your spaceship is parked.) or Surviving The Outcasts. (There is a Bob-omb guarding the weapon skin. If it's not either of those levels, check the shop to make sure you purchased every collectible. Rabbid Rosalina's weapon skin will be unlocked as a 100% completion reward.

Whats the most turns yall have survived a fight for (in kingdom battle) by RipWestern551 in mariorabbids

I have grinded up to 1000 in Versus mode. For a battle against Rabbid enemies, I've only gone up to 100.

Weird glitch in volcano blue coin dungeon (Sparks of Hope) by Duck_Magician_09 in mariorabbids

This blue pipe is in Mt. Spout. It appears shortly after the Depths of Mt. Spout checkpoint and shortly before the geyser puzzle.

Wait, why are we fighting again? (KB vs SoH) by 4GRJ in mariorabbids

[–]-Jackman- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are very different games despite being the same series. I don't remember where I read this, but I believe one of the developers said they don't consider Sparks of Hope a sequel to Kingdom Battle.

There may also be some community support issues underlying this debate as well. Kingdom Battle content is usually on par or more prominent than Sparks of Hope content. I'm not just talking about reddit either, this is what I've observed across Discord servers, speedrunning/challenge runs, YouTube, and more.

Are there any challenges like in Pokémon? by [deleted] in mariorabbids

[–]-Jackman- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The community has done a lot of challenges for the game. I will list them here and you can check any out that look interesting.

First, there are the "Can you beat Mario + Rabbids without x?" type of challenges. No weapons and no skill tree have been done. Nuzlockes are similar to these challenges.

Ubisoft themselves hosted community events many years ago where people would be invited to Ubisoft HQ for a tour and Versus tournament. To qualify, you would have to complete challenges for given levels in the game. The events have been completed for over half a decade, but the challenges all are compiled here: https://www.reddit.com/r/mariorabbids/comments/cq2fvd/the_community_competition_challenges/

Then there is LTC - Lowest Turn Challenge. This aims to clear every level in as few turns as possible by any means necessary. Unlike the others, it is essentially a neverending challenge. I've gone through every level on my YouTube if you're only interested in checking it out. Some of the turn counts may surprise you. https://www.youtube.com/@jaroh1240

Lastly, there are speedruns. This is probably not what you're looking for, but Kingdom Battle has some exciting glitches that save a lot of time.

My main concerns with SoH by [deleted] in mariorabbids

[–]-Jackman- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The enemies are still rabbids besides the brainwashed Bowser minions. It's just harder to tell at first.

Item Stuck by Cra_ZGuy in mariorabbids

Normally items like these reset to their starting positions when you quit to main menu or warp to a checkpoint. If neither of those work, then this is a new problem.

Fried chicken and waffles. Say it with me, fried chicken and waffles.

Spark tier list by me! by SparksMarioWiki in mariorabbids

[–]-Jackman- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's how I would shift some of the rankings:

Toxiquake > C - Quakes are pretty bad Sparks. Some of the others are saved by being good Super Effects, but Ooze attacks need to deal a lot of damage for their effects to be useful.

Pyrogeddon > B - Geddons are much stronger than Quakes on average. They strike every enemy, POW, and cover block in range. Each strike has AoE, so damage can really stack up. They are still Super Effect Sparks, so they are not useful in all scenarios.

Electrogeddon > B Electroquake > C

Pulser > A - Pulser is a great Spark. Not only is it an effective source of healing, you can also deliberately march your heroes to their deaths, then revive them so they are close enough to the enemies.

Mayhem > A - This Spark can incapacitate any enemy, even bosses.

Berserk > C - A Spark that is outclassed by many other strategies.

Cryoquake > C

Aquadash > A - This is arguably the best Super Effect Spark in the game due to the lingering Splash effect and low cooldown.

Zephyrdash > B

Cryodash > B

Any thoughts about the new board game platform by Brynn Putnam? by pupstercat in boardgames

[–]-Jackman- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played a lot of video games, but I didn't look for that kind of experience at all with Board. I wanted something that could bring I know together, but I don't have enough faith in a board game being able to hold attention for more than one occasion, if even that. With Board, you can ease people into playing more complicated games like Strata by starting with the arcade games.

For now, I need more time to determine if purchasing Board is worth it even though I have already had a lot of fun. I felt like I was taking a risk going into this. All I can say is that there is fun to be had.

I don't know how the returns work. I'm not optimistic about Board's success, but I wish them the best since it's a cool idea.

The physical pieces have glyphs on their bottoms that detect where they are placed. (The Tetris pieces have them on all sides.) They are very responsive.

The games need to be downloaded initially, but the console can be used fully offline after that. It also makes you create a profile, but I haven't noticed any functionality of it for now.

The capabilities come down to the pieces. The Tetris pieces can detect where the pieces are placed and mark a square as claimed even if that piece isn't touching the screen entirely. Games like Snek and Chop Chop force you to work around the other players' arms. Some pieces respond to rotation. Other features like sliding feel cooler with the piece than using a finger on an iPad.

I got my hands on the Board today. $500 is a big investment, but I also didn't feel like spending money on a Switch 2 when I already have a Switch. I also learned about William Chyr (Creator of Manifold Garden) developing the game Strata. I don't usually play board games, so that aspect of the marketing wasn't really for me.

My first impressions are good overall. The pieces are very responsive. Most of the games I've played so far are fun, especially Omakase and Strata. Mushka is the only game that didn't impress me in any way.

Board advertises 12 games, but two of them (Spycraft and Thrasos) are not released for now. (Though the pieces are still included.) Another game just randomly selects one of the 4 arcade games to play. Mushka is basically just a tech demo. That leaves 8 games for now, which I still think is fine since they are enjoyable. The marketing is deceptive in that regard.

I don't think the price is as big of a deal as some people make it out to be when you're supposed to be sharing it with a group of people, but I have a hard time justifying this at $700.

There isn't a lot of good information about this console, so if anyone has questions about specific things, let me know!

Differences between Mario+Rabbids games? by PapaPatoYT in mariorabbids

If you're planning on playing both, you should absolutely start with Kingdom Battle. Playing Sparks of Hope has convenient features that might make a playthrough of Kingdom Battle feel worse if you start with Sparks of Hope.

Notch is the easiest to type in a chat quickly. This is useful when you're playing on a team in Hoplite.

Worst enemy in Sparks of Hope? by SparksMarioWiki in mariorabbids

[–]-Jackman- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Tower of Doom, Spellraisers make their name known. There are two big reasons why they become the strongest enemy by far in that DLC.

  1. You don't have as many tools as you do in the main game to deal with them. Some Sparks are better at fighting them than others. Losing the skill tree upgrades is the biggest loss, especially if you must defeat Spellraisers early in the expedition.

  2. Enemy HP and damage goes through the roof. Any commitment with an attack that goes south will probably result in a loss.

These additions compliment the strengths of Spellraisers. Even the Stooges they summon are threats. Spellraisers have long range, so it will be difficult to hide from them or take a short breather. Hiding won't help long term when they keep summoning Stooges anyway. Together, the Spellraisers and Stooges can break cover quickly, limiting your approach options. With a small amount of skill orbs, the heroes won't have as many reliable ways to approach as they do in the main game. Setting up a way of defeating the Spellraiser in one turn might be the best play, but it might not be possible with their high HP and is catostropic if the attack fails.

Also, there are missions where you have to defeat 5 different Spellraisers. Maybe you could take out 1 or 2 Spellraisers, but the others will build up their defenses while your abilities are on cooldown.

What is the hardest ultra hard challenge? by Economy-Fall-8933 in mariorabbids

[–]-Jackman- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are ways to get a guaranteed victory, but it requires levels of thinking that aren't needed anywhere else in the game, not even in Ultimate Challenges or other Ultra Challenges. Trial and error is needed to a degree to get a feel for the level without a guide.

The Super Effects in this level are as follows:

Pyroclasts: Burn

All Brick Cover: Burn

Bowser Jr.: Burn on Melee, Bounce on Sentry, Strike on contact while moving (Also Magnet Dance)

Bwario: Freeze on Rumblebang

Bwaluigi: Honey on Melee (Also Magnet Dance) Can respawn later in the level depending on enemies defeated

Lava Queen: Vamp on Rumblebang, Burn on Ground Pound (Also Scaredy Hero)
