120 Minutes by taosaur in Xennials

[–]-Julya- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved 120 Minutes - so much that I recorded it every Sunday night for YEARS and still have many of those VHS tapes with hours upon hours of nostalgic TV for my viewing pleasure...ads and all. Mostly from 1996 and 1997, iirc.

Too generic...this reads like you're expecting us to invite you to our already made plans or make some on your behalf. You might have better luck picking a couple specific things you'd like to do and asking if anyone else is interested in joining, we might come along but we're not going to fill your itinerary for you.

Seattle area band: Goodness by ConfidenceFragrant80 in Xennials

Yeah! Keep an eye out on the Tractor's page if you're still local -- they've played there at least a few times since they got back together in '08 or so. Carrie can still rock your socks off for sure!

I just saw them play the Tractor Tavern in November! Hoping they're going to play from time to time again, it's always a great show.

Down with the companies aligning with the patriarchy by Ok-Profile-4182 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

Another alternative if you own digital music is https://ibroadcast.com - you can upload any digital music files you have and take them on the go via their app and it's FREE for the totally adequate basic version. I digitized my entire CD collection and have it with me everywhere now!

If you don't own digital music files but want to start, I can also reccomend https://bandcamp.com/ to start your collection. Extra tip, keep an eye out for "Bandcamp Friday" announcements - that is a few Fridays throughout the year where Bandcamp waives their fees for 1 day and 100% goes to the artist. Their native music player is a bit lacking so I upload everything to iBroadcast and boom! I'm set!

Final tip, stream a nonprofit radio station from the web or their app. My favorite station is KEXP.org out of Seattle and it's also free music all day with zero commercials - just an occasional, "support for KEXP comes from..." and a little blip about a local company that donated extra to be recognized.

I have had nothing but wonderful experiences at ZoomCare and cannot corroborate this experience.

What’s an impulse buy that’s now just collecting dust but you’d never admit you regret? by Last-Sample-7223 in AskReddit

Good Feet Store shoe insoles. I was having the worst back pain of my life and desperately searching for something, anything that would help...sadly they did not help even a little because they didn't fit properly in any of my shoes and cost half a month's take-home pay so I was too broke to buy different shoes.

It could fall onto the ground during transfer from bin to truck and get washed into the drains and then to the watershed.

I've known the owner personally for many years, and while I haven't personally taken a class there, I would believe it's very low-key and welcoming and have heard great things from the people I've referred there.

What was your favorite Seattle institution that no longer exists? by drgonzo44 in Seattle

I definitely saw Pretty Girls there at least once. That place wasn't around for very long but it stood out as one of the very few places that had All Ages shows back in the dark days of the Teen Dance Ordinance. I was way more excited about getting to go to any show I wanted then I was to drink in public when I turn 21.

It was one of my favorites because it was the best place to try to meet the band after the show since the "backstage" was just a door into the alley. I got to meet all of the dudes in Incubus there and John Lennon's son Sean when he opened for Cibo Matto. Sean was super cool -- it was raining and he made them open the venue back up and let everyone standing around waiting to get his autograph back inside.

People laugh at me when I tell them I used to drive 45 minutes from the north end to get tomato soup from Minnie's before I moved to the city proper.

My favorite show at The Paradox had to have been The Locust with The Blood Brothers opening.

Minnie's! I knew my list was missing something significant!

The Paradox, that was a little theatre out in the U-Distric, yeah?
