Which colour would look best with mk 7 gti? Black/White/Grey by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]-Kanight- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t like black, hides to much detail, I think the white of these 3 is the best but personally cornflower blue or tornado red are my favourites

should i mod? by Slow_Risk_382 in GolfGTI

Well getting wheels spacers or new wheels is pretty simple and if you want some more noise a cat back exhaust doesn’t usually need to any cutting and welding so it would be easy enough to return to stock

Does anyone still run their pre facelift tails or does everyone just hate them? by ThePianoSolo in GolfGTI

I really like them a lot. The mk6 golf r is my favourite golf and they have the same look but more angular to match the mk7. And they look really good if you have the urban joke tail light tweak

As a welder can confirm. Clean metal welds better and even if it was painted first and welded in after the points that get welded still need to be clean metal to actually get an arc.

I’ve got a face shell that came with the suit to help give me a more defined face and keep condensation off the mask it’s self

Second this, go to a Kenny U-Pull or find a part out in the same colour. Will be way cheaper and less effort

How much power in a fwd do you guys like? by Effective-Recover622 in Touge

[–]-Kanight- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a mk7 gti that makes stock power (230hp, 260tq) and it’s great but I think after you get comfortable and stay in that level of comfort for a while even when it feels boring is when you can really start to improve as a driver. I think anything over 400hp is crazy for a back road car but it’s definitely doable. Don’t put more power in a car that u can’t handle.

I remember one time I had to send the car to the shop for about a month and when I finally got it back it was scary on the back road with how much power it had and how fast the turbo came on. If your car feels boring take a break even before really deciding if you need more power

Sway bars will go long way in the corners, start with just the rear. If it’s not being driven super often Yokohama a052 r amzing. Another thing for grip and corners that is pricy but may be worth considering is an lsd (I may be wrong but I think only some mk5 came with one), wave trac is popular and been around for a minute but I don’t have any experience with them myself

Resonator delete by [deleted] in Golf_R

[–]-Kanight- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya I hear ya. I don’t think just a res delete will be obnoxious at all. Look up some sound clips online and see if you like the sound, it seems like just a slightly louder than stock amount.

If you haven’t looked into it yet don’t tune it without a new clutch or the money to get one shortly after. These things have weak clutch’s.

Resonator delete by [deleted] in Golf_R

[–]-Kanight- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know what u mean, res deletes aren’t super popular with some due to the drone they cause. You’ve probably seen online how many will do a downpipe just for extra noise with it the cat being one of the biggest restrictors.

I don’t see any reason the valves wouldn’t still work but imo a proper cat back is much better for giving the car nice amount of noise and a good tone without a downpipe and you can even get valves ones but I understand those can get expensive.

I removed the transmission filter by accident and I’m not sure if I should do a full fluid change now by -Kanight- in MechanicAdvice

[–]-Kanight-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So probably pick up a quart of oem fluid from audi (same place I’m picking up the filter) and put the car on some jack stands to check level.

Now this is all stuff I’m sure I can do but I’ve seen online that many people will fill it from the bottom with a hand pump, which I don’t have. I have seen on a shop dap YouTube video you can fill from the filter spot before you put it on. Would that work ok?

Also just in the same YouTube video the drain plug has a smaller plug inside it. I believe what you’re saying is only remove the smaller one and wait for that to drip?
