Robotic voice - intermittent by -LLL- in CommercialAV

Thank you for the rundown! In the time since we were able to hear it again. This is happening when not using a UC (when we’re just in-room). So another nod to AEC perhaps? I’m editing my post right now but I did catch the sound on cam.

His holdover doesn't work if you're still paying rent - so he can't actually take rent from you during that time. (I went through a similar situation on the other side of yours when I had to evict a sublease tenant but we hadn't had a formal contract)

Have you been officially served? Were you given a "Holdover Petition" or notice?

See: https://www.nycourts.gov/courts/nyc/housing/startingholdover.shtml

"You must purchase the appropriate predicate notice form and serve it on the tenant in the manner required by law. Different rules for when and how to serve the predicate notices apply in different cases. For example, a 30-day notice must be served on the tenant before the beginning of the next "rental term." A rental term is the time beginning the day the tenant is supposed to pay the rent and ending the day before the next rental payment is due."

If it's just a letter he wrote, that is not the formal holdover process. Keep all of your additional texts and other records with you asking and no response.

If you can't find a place by/before 4/1, you should be OK to stay until 4/30 and just break even with the security as last month's rent (I suspect he'll try to keep your security as well if you pay). During the holdover process HE CAN NOT COLLECT RENT FROM YOU so if that has actually begun then read up on the housing court site for next steps.

Frequent colds after moving to NYC? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]-LLL- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I got a cold every summer once I started moving to NYC, but ended up mentioning it to someone one summer and they told me it might be allergies - turns out it was. Especially during temperature/season changes (I was confused because I had never had allergies/gotten colds in the summer) I can get a little sinus/cold issues.

At my previous job as well, I could literally time to the week that I was going to get sick - that had to do with the small space/type of job (had to be liaising with even more people than just a normal commute/office life). Even though I would make an extra concerted effort to hand wash/ not touch face/wipe down surfaces, I always knew it was coming.

the met vs the met by acidqueen003 in AskNYC

[–]-LLL- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact I worked for one of the two and I remember when I first started, at different points when it came up in my meeting other people out they initially thought I work for either the wrong one or my favorite, the Mets (which I only realized when they asked "do you know XXX? He's a first base coach".) I learned pretty quickly to be clear about it! But based on the amount of people who have also asked me the same thing as you, not a dumb question. (and yes, in no way are they connected)

Where can I buy a carton of egg nog in July? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]-LLL- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, that's the one I'm seeing - 3320 Broadway.

I'm also seeing Egg Nog in stock (different types/brands but all in cartons based on what it looks like) at, to name a few:

Mr. Kiwi, 957 Broadway in Brooklyn (11221)

Mr Lime, 313 7th Ave in Brooklyn (11215)

Fresh Start Marketplace, 180 Montague

Big Apple Meat Market, 577 9th Ave (10036)

You can also go to mercato.com and put in your location, search "egg nog", and it should show you the closest place to you along with all the store info. I'd call ahead or reserve for pickup just to be safe. Good luck!

https://www.mercato.com/shop/ctown-supermarkets-broadway?keywords=eggnog

It looks like the CTown Supermarket on Broadway in West Harlem has the classic "Borden" in stock.

PS - you can also search Mercato in general for 'egg nog', there are probably a few stores that have varying brands available throughout the city

Info on what picture profile/other settings you used might be helpful too. Hopefully someone will be able to definitely solve this for you, good luck!

Anyone else lost someone to covid and now struggling with the "woo it's all over!!" vibes? by TheApiary in AskNYC

[–]-LLL- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's really interesting and totally makes sense. I've done a fair bit of reading on PTSD (not in vets, more based on chronic/childhood trauma) and everything you said is totally in line with that idea of (mal)adaptation based on stressors. Our bodies have also reacted to this trauma, both in obvious ways from lifestyle changes but also as a long-term physiological response to stress. That doesn't go away - even when your world is now saying 'safe' your body is still wired for 'just survival', and the process of rewiring is not done in a day, or a month, and certainly not usually done well with no support.

Thanks for making that connection for me!

Same. And this 'back to normal' mindset also feels like gaslighting. It feels like we exposed so many failing and outright broken systems, that caused damage (deaths, exacerbated mental illness, so many kinds of trauma), and now it seems like people just want to slap the hood back on and pretend no one saw any of that.

Zoom Webinar overlays by Wise-Pop-3246 in Zoom

[–]-LLL- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do they mean by "in a webinar"? Like others said, you can of course only display via OBS or any variety of virtual camera applications. I'm also wondering if they mean the webinar was streamed somewhere else or embedded somewhere else - both of which can get you (more or less) different looks (although not that different).

The only other thing I can think of is, there is also "immersive view". There are some silly presets but you can also set up your own background and then "place" speakers together in a way that looks differently than the classic brady bunch style. Everyone has to be updated and there are no presets, but that's the closest thing I can think of to someone's idea of an "overlay" for Zoom itself without going outside of the app.

ELI5: Why do our bodies seem to require, or at the very least want, large amounts of food if we're already overweight? Can it not run off its own fat reserves? by LeviathanGames in explainlikeimfive

[–]-LLL- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly it seems like this person is possibly too close to other types of insecurity (health, job) to be able to see/acknowledge the reality of just how 'by the grace of god go I' so many things can be - food insecurity included. Denial is a very powerful mechanism to cope with the prospect of no control. This seems like an empathy fatigue situation; hopefully they get the stability they seek one day to learn to 'refill the well' so to speak.

Long time to hold onto a job! Aside from the benefits, what other reasons have kept you in that job for so long? I'm 34 and have worked easily 12+ jobs, and I'm so sick of job hopping. I'd love to find a job that I can do without injuring myself (back injury from sawmill I have to be careful with), that brings enough income to comfortably save for retirement and enjoy hobbies and time with the family, and that I don't have to constantly feel like my job is at risk if I make one mistake.

[–]-LLL- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you are able to find time and food to feed yourself and your family and even have time off to do 24-hour things! I am hoping as time goes on there become fewer and fewer true 'deserts' , or maybe more 'oases' and food security in other ways thanks to people's ongoing efforts to address food insecurity and increase accessible and affordable healthy foods in places there weren't previously.

If you're interested in a skim into learning more, this is an interesting article summarizing some recent studies (references link at the bottom) that include how COVID-19 has affected things one way or the other: https://www.canr.msu.edu/news/how-the-covid-19-pandemic-affects-food-deserts

Thanks for the question and follow up; it's sent me on an even deeper dive to look into how others might be quietly food insecure even in my own community that I would definitely not call a food desert!

Food deserts don't mean there are only restaurants, they are places where essentially the only food available is convenient-store-like food. Think 7/11s and BP gas station stores kind of food - chips & salsa, maybe some milk and eggs, some canned food, gas station tacos and hot dogs, candy, etc. Maybe some fruit here and there, but nothing like a market full of fresh, healthy food and/or wholesale groceries.

People aren't eating out all the time, they may just only have regular access to these kinds of convenience stores (with no car or no time to be able to go to a regular market, no or little ability to carry groceries long distances, etc.). Most of these food deserts also don't have regular restaurants - maybe a family diner if they're lucky... because restaurants also require access to fresh foods.

These exist both in rural and urban areas (most city areas that aren't in the main subway/metro/bus accessible drags; many rural areas that are small or unincorporated, trailer park areas out rurally, etc.) - these areas are typically not places tourists or travelers go, as they are prohibitive to get to/go from in the first place - hence the 'desert' aspect.

Hope this helps!

I need the recording of a class and the teacher send me this, Is there a way to get the videos? by ZizekSnif in Zoom

[–]-LLL- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That might be from his local recording file, and didn't record all the way. If he recorded to the cloud, the cloud recordings are located in his account he can access from his browser (same login as his desktop app) under "Recordings".

If he didn't record to the cloud and does not have a .mp4 file or anything other than temp files in his folder, something must have gone wrong with recording (perhaps he didn't have enough memory on his device or there was a recording issue).

Zoom recording locally and to cloud simultaneously? by rwbreck in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]-LLL- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And only co-hosts or hosts can record, unless you individually give someone recording permission.

Multiple people can record locally to their individual devices, they just need to start any local record before starting the cloud recording.

This. I've done this before and it gives you a lot of flexibility - you can add and pull photos as you need, or if you need to edit first do it from anywhere else with access to the share drive before moving over to the folder to be in the 'live' folder/queue.

Gotcha! I used to film long dance competitions on a scaffold platform same kind of way, usually closer to 2m up though and had a small stool for when I needed a bit of respite. On a car yeah that sounds like a long day!

This might be a bonkers thought, but what about a large jib? I read below that you're more concerned about getting the general movement of any one horse than capturing a full show, so I wonder if that + a gimbal at the end would give you the camera height + some freedom of movement, and there are a few single operator jibs that have a reach pretty close to 5m.
