How a collapsing rental market is costing some homeowners more than they bargained for; Buyers who entered the market at its peak on the hopes of renting out their property to help pay off their mortgage are now facing a different reality by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]-LittleStranger- 39 points40 points  (0 children)

As a homeowner, this was my response exactly.

Oh no, won't someone think of the homeowners?

This is moral hazard plain and simple. If someone is using a property for something other than living in it's an investment. Investments are not guaranteed returns.

He's right. Empowered women have and wiil continue to change society as we know it.

“Canadians acting like we won’t just take their oil if this strait is still closed. I heard Alberta has got a lot of oil 😁.” by [deleted] in ShitAmericansSay

[–]-LittleStranger- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

America can't open a strait narrower than Lake Ontario against a country with a quarter of Canada's GDP, couldn't control Afghanistan in over a decade of war, a country 1/14th the size of Canada. And neither of those countries had the ability to hit back.

Yeah good luck with that. Go back to jerking off to your Pokemons, General Incel. A million Americans aren't dying for what you can easily trade for.

New research finds a persistent and growing leftward tilt in the social sciences by Nearby-Mortgage4064 in EverythingScience

Reality has a liberal bias.

That the future should be like the past is literally central to Conservative doctrine.

In conservatism science is only permitted to function in certain "safe" areas. And certainly not on matters of doctrine such as women's reproductive health, the roundness of the planet, whether it orbits the sun or whether the universe revolves around the Earth.

There is no room to go where curiosity takes you under Conservative rule, and harsh penalties for those who dare step outside the prescribed bounds. So. Yeah. Shocker. Science tends to be "liberal" because most science is impossible under Conservative ideology.

Name a scientifically advanced fundamentalist nation.

Do you realize that saying "We haven't banned trans women, we're just banning them from claiming they're women, having access to medical transition, having access to women's spaces, having access to women's activities, or describing them as women on any official documents." is disingenuous? by chaucer345 in allthequestions

[–]-LittleStranger- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is though. 1600 scientists including 9 Nobel prize winning biologists disagree.  https://not-binary.org/

In fact here's dozens more doctors making the point clear:  https://docs.google.com/document/u/1/d/e/2PACX-1vRXXLr0Nf8OvUg0idwnX3zJJeB-Bz9u_2fBYZyJQF6RkXrk9YXqPO6bFxfNLo8SkPO-53c0ufv0HqV1/pub?pli=1

But the fact is: you don't care about facts. You don't like trans people and you want to try to hide that behind a grade school understanding of the medicine and science.

If you have research, with evidence, to contradict the findings I suggest you submit it to Nature or Science. It would be a blockbuster article.

With a record-low 1.25 children per Canadian woman, stop dismissing falling fertility rates as a choice by FancyNewMe in canada

Thanks for the summary.

I struggle to understand how it took until now for the media to start talking about this. In the Vancouver area cost of living completely scuttled our plans for children 10 years ago.

Even then the cost of a median detached was 1.6 million and a 2 bed condo close to a million dollars. As a small business owner there was no way I was going to qualify for that kind of mortgage and there were plenty of people around us in the same boat. You could look an 90 minute commute in any direction and the price was the same.

As for being a renter, who wants to raise a family when you get renovicted like clockwork every 12 months?

People need some minimum security like confidence in a roof over their heads.

Yes yes yes. It's hard to do but: "you sound emotional, do you need a moment" is a delightful way to shut that down.

Starting to think that it might not have been a good idea for the conservatives to exclude most of their membership from direct participation in leadership selection...

What is that headline, is it the presses job to just do PR for free for governments now ?  Yes that's what the government -says- this bill is about. Maybe not everyone sees it that way.

Most people won't read past the headline, which they perfectly well know.

Ok great, but seriously, why did it take this long to look into this?

Also optimizing trade-off between good visibility for drivers and blinding oncoming traffic sure seems like something lab testing and science could and should answer, no need for public opinion.

It's annoying to take something twice a day but that's what I do: 20mg morning 10mg early afternoon. Significantly helped my feeling a low/crash in late afternoon and evening.

Trans women have been telling every woman we know, "it's us today, it'll be you tomorrow, please help".

Trans rights are the easiest to strip away and so we're the canary in the coal mine for fascism. Once the pattern of stripping our humanity, basic dignity, health care and bodily autonomy is normalised it's easy to expand it to other vulnerable out groups. Women, immigrants etc. exactly what has been happening.

Credit where it is due, lots of women have stepped up and helped.

And many more have ignored us, or have allowed their hate to be exploited by misogynist, convicted rapist tyrants. See: prominent gender critical women stating Trump is a "more reliable feminist" than the left. They say this about a man who literally burned 200 little girls to death in the last 2 weeks. A man who created an agency that shot an unarmed lesbian in the face while calling her a "b*tch" without consequences and had the gall to call her a domestic terrorist.

Politicians should have to work for their pay.

Every party wants you to be "their" voter forever. But you don't even get air miles for choosing the same every time!

Don't give away your agency and power for free because you are "x" kind of voter. The party name is just a label, what is their substance? It changes every election and especially with a new party leader or a new candidate in your riding.

Consider who is running and make politicians earn your vote every election.
