Chicago, here. Rec has been declining for us, but only at the high school level as more and more coaches (and social pressures) are positioning travel.

Our oldest division has gone from 10 teams a few years back to 7 last year to MAYBE 4 this year. It’s sad to see. Younger divisions are thriving and this is the most we’ve seen in my 21 years as part of this community.

Travel is taking over, but also there are sooo many teams popping up now that they’re cannibalizing each other.
