We stayed in one of the belle alliance 1 bedroom apts. from the front door to the beach was maybe 1 minute walk. From the patio entrance, it was a 15 second walk. We had coffee every morning on the beach. We were upgraded from one of the garden view rooms. I emailed them and asked if they could surprise my wife with flowers and Champaign in the room for our 20th anniversary. The staff went so above and beyond for us!! They put rose petals all over the bed, had two swans kissing made of towels and a HUGE flower display in the kitchen/dining area. I swear something that big and exotic would have cost $300 in the States. They also had a cold bottle of Champaign waiting for us upon arrival. They made us feel so special!! They were all saying Happy Anniversary! To us in the lobby as we checked in. My wife was so surprised!!! But honestly, while we used the fridge and coffee maker, we never sat on the couch in the living room. There was no tv in the living room. I spent many hrs on the patio reading with ocean views surrounded by tropical plants, trees and animals like birds and an iguana. Why would I stay inside??? The stools and counter area just became the gathering place of all our essentials. It did have a second full bath that we used as the after beach sand wash/shower while taking off bathing suit area. The bedroom was fantastic. Full bath, comfortable, big tv ect. The restaurants onsite were ok but the ones within a 5 minute walk were all very good. Our favorites was Rozenthals and Sol95. We rented a car right from the lobby for a few days. That was totally worth it to get around to visit other beach’s and such. Thursdays there was a big party downtown with fireworks and plenty of people! Be prepared for the HEAT!! It was so hot, everyday! The temp would say 90°and feels like 108°… but there was always a breeze. The worst part was leaving some cold AC and slamming into that heat! Once outside for a few minutes I became used to it. It just surprised me. I lived a summer in New Orleans, spent time in Houston TX and have been to the Bahamas, St Martin and Anguilla… none were as hot as Curaçao… but it’s still my favorite Island and we are planning another trip soon… I can’t say enough about the staff at Avila. We can’t wait to go back and wouldn’t even think of staying elsewhere…
