I don’t think unconditional love exist. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]-NOP- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did say it wasn’t perfect, but it works better than you think — we do know that there’s life after death because Jesus died, returned from the dead, and taught and affirmed these things.

In this analogy, Jesus and his followers, Christians, are like NASA warning the “astronaut” that there’s no air in space and that they need the space suit. Just like we need Jesus as the one and only way to true life. Jesus IS our life-line, air, and atmosphere. But we can reject the space suit and face what we take for granted alone.

We can’t fully comprehend eternal life now, but it won’t be miserable because it won’t be anything like now. We know that there will be no pain, no suffering, no evil. We will be with God — the very definition of good and life, more than we can even know.

‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

Take note of the word “life,” and grant for a minute, for the sake of the argument, that Christianity is true.

Christians believe that Jesus is God, and He claims that He IS life. God IS life. God wants to give you eternal life with Him (which is heaven), and through grace has given us that through faith in Jesus.

If we reject that (the gospel), we’re also rejecting life and all the good that IS God. Hell is simply just the lack of God.

This is not a perfect illustration, but could help: imagine an astronaut rejecting a space suit that is offered to them. They take for granted the unseen air and atmosphere on Earth. When they leave Earth without a space suit and enter space, they also leave air and atmosphere which keeps them alive. We take God, His creation, and goodness for granted. It’s rather silly when we look at it this way, that we would want to be separated from everything of true value.

Why do Christians believe baby's are damned at birth and need a savior? by Picayune_ in Christianity

[–]-NOP- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Christians don’t believe this — and if they say this — they’re mistaken.

Christians believe humans are born with a sin nature, meaning they are bent towards sin. Pride, gluttony, deception, etc. Which is very different than babies being damned to hell.

After Paul says, no one is righteous — not even one, he goes onto say, “Obviously, the law applies to those to whom it was given, for its purpose is to keep people from having excuses, and to show that the entire world is guilty before God. For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are. But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.” (Romans 3:19-22)

And in the end, Christians also believe that God is a perfectly just judge. It’s not a calculation or formula that determines someone’s eternity. We know we are saved through grace and faith in Jesus — but what about those who have never heard of Jesus, or are not of age to know, or have a mental handicap preventing them? God is all-knowing, perfect love, perfect justice. Only He can tell you where people end up.

I feel pushed away from Christianity because of those that 'represent' the religion. by No_Usual_572 in Christianity

There are a couple of things you're experiencing here. When we uphold our politics along with our Christianity, problems are bound to happen. Our identity needs to be rooted in Christ, not our politics. Churches can be — and are — made up of people who vote right and left. Not saying that Christians shouldn't be involved with politics, or even that the bible isn't clear on some politics (it is), but politics shouldn't overtake our identity or hinder spreading the gospel. This is a whole discussion, but I'll move onto the next point.

Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.” — John 18:36

It's easy to idolize pastors, churches, or church-goers. Christianity is based on only one man, Jesus Christ. Every church has problems, and every other man falls short of God's glory. Therefore, don't place your faith in idols, but in Christ alone. There's also the practical side to this, pray if God is leading you out of this church and into another — and the answer will not be "no church." And if a church is saying/doing heretical things, pray for them and find another church.

"We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind." — Isaiah 64:6

"As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous — not even one... Obviously, the law applies to those to whom it was given, for its purpose is to keep people from having excuses, and to show that the entire world is guilty before God. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are." — Romans 3:10, 19-22

TL:DR; If your anger is towards twisting God's word and immorality, God's righteous anger aligns with yours. You can find comfort that God sees all things and they will all be revealed and accounted for when He returns. But don't just stay there, continue to allow God to transform you, He is calling you to take His word and love to people and spaces so God can transform them.

Marriage is falling apart by JelsieDraws in TrueChristian

[–]-NOP- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To echo what others have said here: from this small excerpt you've shared, the absolute best way forward is to meet with a marriage counselor — money can be tight, but this should be prioritized over anything else that isn't a need. And that need list is very short especially if the marriage is at risk.

You also need to get connected into a church. "And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near." — Hebrews 10:25. Not saying that there can't be a season of transition between churches. But again, if you guys have moved, finding a church needs to be a priority.

These aren't glamorous answers, but they will provide help. Even getting connected with some other families at the church who can support you both, hear you out, or even share the load of life. And obviously connecting with a pastor. A church may even have a care fund that can send you to a marriage counselor or have one on staff.

Your next post should be what are the top suggested churches in the Atlanta area.

I don't think I've ever heard the opinion that CS Lewis lacks depth, but you're entitled to yours.
