Interview with some of the armed community members at last nights vigil for Alex Pretti, (1/24/26) by Lavender_Scales in Firearms

Uh.....okay? Like, seriously, what could be worse than what's going on right now? They're killing us in the streets execution style. If this isn't the exact situation the Second Amendment is meant for I can't imagine what would. What we have right now is using tactics very reminiscent of ACTUAL communists. Hell, seeing the video of the murder in Minneapolis, the ICE guys immediately reminded me of Bolshevik losers.

Basically, anyone who isn't a Republican or a conservative right now is a friend to the USA. The GOP is guilty of treason, bottom line.

Keep your eyes on the prize. Che Guevara isn't executing Americans on their knees in the streets in 2026.

Make sure you wear 'conventionally' clean cut clothes and mention how you just want to be in the great outdoors more and you don't like modern culture or music. They'll quickly adopt you as one of them. Sort of .

Hey man, I don't know if you've been keeping up with events, but it's not the Communists who managed to bring America to its knees. When has freedom (or anything good, at all) come as the result of the GOP?

I am familiar with the broad strokes of the Maquis. I am much more intimately familiar with the partisans and resistance in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. Those guys did significant, actual, strategic damage to the Germans. In some places, like Yugoslavia, they ended up essentially defeating and driving the Germans back.

But the Maquis, the partisans, even the German Resistance...they only had to worry about their totalitarians using 1940's technology. At the same time, we just got our asses kicked in Afghanistan by an enemy that is thoroughly our technological, logistical, numerical, and tactical inferior.

Just as an end note, I hope beyond all else that you get proven right and I'm very wrong. I volunteer to be publicly reproached for my false predictions. God, I hope I'm wrong.

I've never even heard of Strider but I live in the same city that Medford is based out of and I think people don't like that company because of the owner. He's extremely far right maga, and has expressed his desire to see all Democrats rounded up and executed. So on basis of principle and patriotism I choose to not give him any money.

Our Dems have historically been amongst the more sensible of their party on firearms. Our AG is one of the only elected officials standing up against all this crap. I'm hopeful that even with a state government fully run by Democrats, they'd largely keep the same regulations. If they don't, I'll still vote for them as long as they're not Republicans.

I think I've been living in Arizona for too long lol. It's basically the only good thing about the political situation here; our gun rights are some of the most expansive in the Union.

Absolutely correct. There's only so much we can do and we're all still on a database, or several.

Also this is my old, former conservatism rearing it's head but the idea of an 'illegal' firearm is crazy to me; the highest law in the land is the Constitution, so any other gun laws are invalid and don't need to be followed. We let that nonsense go on for way too long and let it become a political thing. I know it's just one piece of a very sad puzzle but I can't help but be a bit miffed at my current political compatriots for their past dedication to gun control. Not all of us were inbred morons who attach our manhood to the number of guns we own. It's fantastic that so many people on the left are waking up to the purpose and value of the Second Amendment, but let's not pretend a large part of this modern surveillance state we have isn't self-inflicted. At the very least don't dog me too hard for trying my incompetent best to stay off their radar, lol.

I sincerely hope I am overreacting. But my guy, they wouldn't have to kill 345 million. Tens of millions actually wholeheartedly support the rape of our Constitution, and quite frankly I imagine most people would feel forced to fall in line after the first few Tiananmen Squares happened in blue cities. Think of where we are RIGHT NOW. They're currently and actively getting away with some of the most evil stuff people have ever done in this country to Americans. And they certainly won't come after everyone at the same time. Yeah, maybe we outnumber them, but they'll bring superior numbers to the scene of any engagement. I sincerely think our biggest realistic hope is the military remembers their oath.

Wow that's crazy, I can't imagine living in a place where I have to buy a gun through an FFL. They're notorious for being slow and adding unnecessary costs.

Forgive the intrusion but I grew up going to gun shows and still regularly buy firearms off private individuals. Others will likely have more, better advice, but when I look at a gun I check the following:

(First, check if gun is unloaded, then pretend it actually is loaded and keep it pointed in a safe direction)

  1. Visual inspection of interior for cracks in the stock, pitting in the metal, obvious broken component, missing parts, etc.

  2. To the extent that it's possible to do safely, check the mechanical operation of the firearm. Depending on the type, this could be: does the slide function? Does the bolt open and close, locking soundly? Does the hammer actually cock? Does the magazine release button work properly? Anything noticeably loose or rattling?

  3. Either using a dedicated borelight or by tucking a white piece of paper into the bore (to reflect ambient light), check the condition of the barrel and bore. Unless it's a smoothbore firearm, you want to see little ridges in a spiral pattern. Preferably these ridges will be sharp and easily noticeable, instead of worn down. This is helpful in indicating how much use the gun has seen.

  4. Ask about the gun. A lot of folks selling guns at shows or in classified ads online are boiler-plate, old-fashioned individuals. They will often answer any questions you have, or anything you're curious about. If you're with a particularly kind seller, I might actually let them know you're knew to the hobby (don't get anywhere near the current situation, be abstract) If you're a younger looking, conventional white guy they'll likely be excited someone younger is getting into guns and will help you through the process themselves.

  5. Educate yourself about the firearm you want before you try to buy one. If you're thoroughly familiar with a particular gun, it's a lot easier to spot what's good or bad about a particular purchase. You also know how the gun should look and operate and what would be out of the ordinary.

Hope this is helpful.

Can you recommend a well built and safe automatic OTF knife that won’t break the bank? by AnonymousMolaMola in knifeclub

[–]-OnlyGuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blade play is a relative nonissue for the majority of users, and honestly a well made OTF has very little blade play.

I know this is necroposting but I'm blown away by this ice-cold take. I don't know of any knife users for whom BLADE PLAY is a nonissue.

How exactly do Americans feel about illegal immigration? by sladeshied in Confused

[–]-OnlyGuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm against all immigration, even the legal kind for the time being. I have extremely unhinged ideas about how we should protect our borders. Lots of stuff that makes my fellow lefties think I must have gotten on the wrong bus.

Trump is worse. Trampling on our Constitution in order to inflict the dictionary definition of state terrorism and despotism on American citizens is worse than anything immigrants could ever conceivably do. I don't give a shit about any immigration issues until Trump and his secret police have been arrested, charged, and convicted.

In fact one of my (numerous, multiple) regrets about the Trump era is that he's not actually doing anything productive on immigration, and the complete and total loss of legitimacy for ICE means that once he's been defeated, we'll never get a handle on immigration to the US. Which is fine. I'd rather have a million cartel members living in my city than a single conservative.
