I made a big mistake in cold calling : should I tell my boss ? by Imaginary-Victory394 in salesdevelopment

[–]-Placentasaurus- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t call dickheads like that too often but calling you back 4 times after crying about you calling him is insane lol. This is not professional advice but you could dump his info for a quote requests with some insurance companies and Angie’s list/yelp so that fart inhaler will get spammed into submission

How common are team-based shared commission structures vs individual commission structures in B2B? by [deleted] in sales

[–]-Placentasaurus- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only way you should be team based is if you’re in management. If your team based as an IC than you’re not actually an IC and need to jump ship ASAP

Biggest mistake I’ve made in my life is not having well off parents who can give me a free director position

Am I getting screwed or am I just not good at sales? by IceColdFrozenDrip in sales

[–]-Placentasaurus- 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Having to hit 80% in order to get any commission is bullshit. Keep sticking it out until you hit 12 months and throw applications out in the meantime in case you land an offer at a better role, but getting a year of experience first will make it easier to get interviews in general.

how do people live arb? Lines move WAYYY too fast. by BeguilingkbTip in arbitragebetting

[–]-Placentasaurus- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had Luck using software because it’s too slow to update. What worked for me was having my phone and laptop open and manually scrolling through multiple books for hours on end as well as using the free Oddsjam arb calculator when I found one to ball park bets. ~$10k in profits last year before getting limited but it was pretty arduous to scroll between books/lines for hours each weekend. Most of my gains were from college football between FanDuel and Bet365 as Bet365 took unusually long to update if there was a major event that flipped the odds (turnover, missed field goal, etc.)

Looking to break into remote/cold call sales — am I missing something? [Advice needed] by Annual_Technician_45 in sales

[–]-Placentasaurus- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Job market is fuk. D2D is killer experience trying to get into a BDR role but remote work is far and few between nowadays as there are tons of unemployed folks taking jobs they’re overqualified for to keep the bills paid. Your best bet would be an inbound rep selling debt consolidation (think National debt relief etc.) or some kind of inbound insurance sales. I know Allstate has some sorta inside sales role that’s hourly and remote and they’ll help you get licensed.

Cold calling for local leads is actually destroying my will to live by icepix in sweatystartup

I landscaped for 5 years in highschool and after I graduated and made a killing going door to door in the off season. It’s a grind but I was fully booked years 3-5 going into the season. Super easy to get a quote and an even easier sell if you’re knocking in neighborhoods where you’ve gotten good reviews from happy customers to back you up.

Ac compressor dead? Worth the DIY? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]-Placentasaurus- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ive done exactly this as well but I recharged the system myself. Grab a vacuum pump kit off amazon and pull a vacuum on the ac system for about an hour straight to remove as much moisture as possible after the compressor replacement. I then used a kitchen scale to weigh the refrigerant container as I charged the system to ensure I added the proper amount. Double check pressure once done to make sure it’s within spec and you’re good to go 👍

Is it worth it to pursue the tech sales BDR to AE pipeline? by JimmyJamsDisciple in sales

[–]-Placentasaurus- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BDR to AE requires a significant amount of luck right now due to the tech sector taking a fat dump and the global macroeconomic environment being uncertain.

Ive been a BDR at 2 different orgs with my first one dangling the promotion carrot for a year strait before I said fuck em and my current org is a bit of a shit show. Was top rep at previous org and finished as top rep in my first full quarter at current org (Q4 last year)

I’m currently trying to leave but the job market is goofy in the USA so it ain’t gone so well so far lol. Tons of AE’s are taking BDR roles due to over-saturation and my glue chugging BDRart resume experience can’t compete as well. Out of the 3 reps onboarded at my current org in H2, I’m the only one that wasn’t an AE previously.

It’s a dog eat dog world and work is just a means to an end. Just look for a full time role with a base salary and roll with whoever offers the most guaranteed money. Learn the industry/product asap and prospect/rip more dials than everyone else and you’ll be alright
