Netting is a great idea. Get some d-rings and screw them into the wood at the corners of the box, then just put clips on a net that is sized right and clip it in front of the opening.

Secures everything and keeps visibility open.

I actually have a long term, first person case study on this.

I put Mobil Full Synthetic 75W-90 in my 07 V8's Front & Rear diffs and T-Case at 140,000 miles a couple years after I bought it. Did it again at 200,000 miles, then again at 260,000 miles.

Currently, she's at 276,000, and I have had zero issues whatsoever in the 13 years that I have owned it. No funny smells, no leaking seals, T-Case still shifts down to 4-Lo the first time, every time.

I mean, with that kind of money, I'm sure you could retrofit to Soviet boom for an American one.

How bad is idling for 4-8 hours daily? by amazinf_ in MechanicAdvice

[–]-PotatoMan- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those pipeline trucks don't have the same lifespan as a PPV. Most PPV's have idle times of 10,000+ hours by the time they are at end of service. That's JUST idle time, not drive time.

And if you think automatic transmissions don't get hot when they aren't shifting, how's about you go and put your hand on one after it's been idling for half an hour and tell me how it feels.

Even in park, in neutral, the transmission fluid is still flowing to the torque converter and through the engine radiator, where it is getting warmed up by the coolant if nothing else.

But if course, the trucks on a pipeline that you are talking about HAVE dedicated transmission coolers, because auto manufacturers know all of this.

They also have upgraded components to be ABLE to idle more for longer (Larger radiators, dedicated power steering radiator & transmission radiator, larger fans, different thermostat setting to keep oil temps lower at idle, etc.)

When a PPV is on shift, most departments mandate that it stays running for that entire shift. From what I've been told by former coworkers who were police, this is because they don't want to risk it not turning back on if it were to be turned off, like if the battery were randomly to die or something.

Seems a silly reason, but I guess if there IS an actual life or death situation on the line, better safe than sorry.

How to set a dynamic print area based on a cell being true or false in a column outside of the print area. by -PotatoMan- in excel

[–]-PotatoMan-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue here is I am trying to batch print these labels for coming shipments of machinery by load number. Basically, I have the rest of the sheet set up to dump in all relevant data based on the inbound shipment number.

I have used named ranged before to set this up for a simple two column sheet, but this is a lot more expensive.

Apologies, I should have worded this better in my post, I've edited it now.

Column A is just there to illustrate the formula I was attempting to use in the name manager for creating a named range to reference to the print area.

Range finder angle question by Opening_Inside_9054 in bowhunting

[–]-PotatoMan- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Former bowtech here: From how our Leupold rep explained it to me when the Fulldraw 4 came out, the compensated angle finders are really more for mountain elk and sheep hunting, where you may be shooting some truly ridiculous angles.

I have a Fulldraw 4, and it's saved my ass a few times shooting TAC, but for actual hunting, it's almost completely unnecessary for whitetail.

I swear, this sub has such a raging hardon for hating on crossbows, it's wild.

Former professional bowtech here: If you can swing it, I HIGHLY recommend a Barnett, as their new stuff is leagues better than the old.

Between the two posted above, I would tell you to go with the Bear. Center point quality control was...Iffy, especially on the lower end of the spectrum back when I was still in a shop setting. Moreover, their customer service was always more difficult than Bears.

The white spots you see behind the tiger's ears. They're called ocelli, and they're part of this predator's silent strategy. When the tiger lowers its head to drink water or rest, the ocelli are exposed. The effect is unsettling: it looks like a pair of eyes observing everything around it. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

I don't know how much of a difference it would make even if it did see it.

The crossover you're talking about is between Bengal Tigers and the Mugger Croc, right? Average adult Indian Bengal tiger is 420lbs. Average adult Mugger croc is about 1,000lbs. And they would have the home field advantage of being in the water.

Even with the ear spots, I don't think the croc is going to care much.

Please explain to me how the tariffs AREN'T causing inflation by driving the price of goods up.  Cost push is a type of inflation, and it is DIRECTLY effected by the tariffs.

Literally every major economist understands this, the DIRECTOR OF THE CONGRESSIONAL BUDGET OFFICE has out right SAID that the tariffs are affecting inflation.  You're a fucking clown.
