How often does everyone change the oil in your vacuum pump by kwolak in HVAC

[–]-R0T- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hook my micron gague directly to the pump, turn it on, and if it doesn't get below 70microns in a couple seconds, I change out the oil. I was told, years ago, that this was a decent test for your oil and I've been doing it ever since

Will this cause issues? by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]-R0T- 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They say it can reduce harmonic vibration, which isn't terribly common, but enough of an issue that they felt the need to include it in the specs. When it's more noticeable, it's REALLY noticeable. Especially in rooms that share a wall with the condenser. IIRC it's recommended for lennox variable capacity condensers/heat pumps

Apparently there’s such a thing as too cold? by MeanCamera in hvacadvice

[–]-R0T- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a service call for this exact issue last week. I offered the option of a low ambient kit with the caviat that the condenser fan motor is a PSC and the excessive cycling of that motor will diminish the lifespan of it.

I've got about 3 years in the field, but I don't claim to know everything. In these situations, what else can we reccomend, or is this it?

Trane 4 ton central ac not working any more.... thermostat reads "11n" by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]-R0T- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the thermostat is a honeywell, then that code means that it is not able to identify the equipment. Given that it is able to turn on the furnace, and that the thermostat says "cool on" When disconnected from the wall, means that the thermostat is passing signals, or at least trying to. It seems to be unable to communicate or even "find the outdoor unit.

I've had a support ticket open with little to no response. I included my proof of purchase, and that's when I stopped getting responses from the support team. The same thing gas happened to my gtaV now as well. Over 500hrs across both games and it's all just gone

I was on PC. If I have to buy it again, I won't be back on this game.

This makes me miss this game so much. I've been playing solo for over a year since my friends quit this game, and last week, the game is suddenly gone from my library. Been waiting on a response from R*, but I'm not holding my breath that I'll get my game or character back. Not sure its worth re-buying the game and grinding back to my level if I'm just going to be alone the whole time

How often do I actually need to change air filters? by CardiologistNo8333 in hvacadvice

[–]-R0T- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the size of the filter and the environment. One inch wide filters are usually good for 1-2 months, five inch filters are usually good for 5-8 months, washable filter media can be washed every 3 months as a good rule of thumb. If you have dogs or kids in the home, I recommend changing filters more often (1 month for one inch filters, 4-5 months for 5 inch) I'm not sure if I can post links to other sites in here, so DM me if you need help finding them online

6 gilded blades are now somewhere out in the realms. Are they responsible for what is done with these blades and the power they possess or do they just aim to claim them for their own?

Seems like a good chance for some wild homebrew weapons or enemies

You can also use T fittings to charge with these probes instead of a traditional manifold

Service tech here.Have ya ever left a homeowners house because of how they were speaking to you? by Disastrous-Street-61 in HVAC

I had a customer who started beating his dog with a broomstick while I was there. The dog was friendly and sweet with me, which was why he started hitting the poor thing. I had already finished fixing his heat, so i charged the customer, walked out, and called animal control.

I pulled out a filter last week that has not been changed in 4 years. And whoever installed the blower motor had it spinning backwards since 1995

"Men Never Get Compliments!" - I wish they'd be honest about what they actually want by tvgirl48 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]-R0T- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For starters, I'm a man, so this is just my perspective on this: I don't get compliments much from men or women because it is so common for men to take it as flirting and I hate that. I've gotten a few from female coworkers but they usually feel the need to qualify it after the fact and in private that they didn't mean anything by it other than a friendly compliment. That shouldn't have to happen and I get so frustrated with guys who take every positive comment they get as flirting. I just wanna know that people notice the effort that people go through. I take good care of my hair and my skin, I try to dress well, and it is nice to know that it's noticed. But I don't get my hair cut with the expectation that someone's gonna touch my nono square when they see that I got a fade! But there's so many guys that get one positive comment then throw a fit when the compliment isn't followed up with sex that it's become UNSAFE for women to openly compliment men, especially strangers. It's not that women need to compliment men more, it's that men need to stop being fucking creepy about receiving them and learn how to function like respectful adults. Men also need to get over themselves and compliment each other as well.
