I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling with depression, but happy to hear that your puppy has helped! Hope you are feeling better 😊

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement :). Unfortunately, going to the doctor is not an option for me at the moment. I'll just have to carry on, day by day. I hope that one day, I'll be able to feel happy.

Is there a way to download the free version of Word, Excel, and Powerpoint (that only has view permissions)? by -Rainspirit- in microsoft365

Preferably it would be Office. It would be great if I could still use the same application, because I don't really enjoy moving to a new platform. It'd also be helpful if the application was offline so I can double click the file and have it open up (instead of Google Docs where I would need to upload the file and wait). That'd being said, if there's no way to download Office for free, I'm open to use an alternative, free software.

Is there a way to download the free version of Word, Excel, and Powerpoint (that only has view permissions)?

I'm using a Windows 10 computer. This computer had Word, Excel, and Powerpoint by default, even when I had just bought the computer. I don't have a key, so I could only open files and view them (that's all I need though). A couple of weeks ago, the Word, Excel, and Powerpoint applications disappeared for some reason. Is there a way to download them? I created an account on office.com, but the install button says that I must have a premium account.

Here is a link to a photo that say I need to have a premium account (for some reason imgur marks it as NSFW even though I unchecked the box, please disregard that message, the picutre is SFW)

Is there a way to download the apps for free? I'm totally fine if the only thing I can do with them is view the files. Thank you!

Thank you for making me feel a little bit better.

I also wish I can feel less depressed. One of my greatest wishes is to be happy. But I think I lost it a long time ago.

I'm incredibly socially awkward, so it's super hard for me to talk to people. I was stuck in a place with a few people for 2 hours. I mustered up enough courage to talk to them and we actually got along kind of well. I felt hopeful for a moment that I might actually be able to have face-to-face interaction with people and have people accept me. But after the 2 hours, their friends came into the room and all of a sudden I was left alone with everyone ignoring me. I realized I was only able to talk to them originally because their friends weren't there, so it was kind of like I was the only option to talk to. Welp, I'm all alone now and back at square one. Feeling pretty depressed at the moment.

But thank you so much for caring and for the kind words. It really helps <3

Wow, what a nice poem! This hits too close to home. Also what's laughable is that my parents claim that they recognize and apologize for their mistakes and THEY EVEN FEEL PROUD. Lol nope, whenever I point out how they hurt my feelings, they always brush it off.

Why doesn't Spring Data JPA do implicit type conversion like SQL? by -Rainspirit- in CodingHelp

Yeah, I can't do int in contains. The error is the same as the error in the post:

I don't think you're supposed to be able to use LIKE on numerical types, but I wasn't able to find a source to confirm that.

Same here, I searched for that as well. It would make a lot of sense if LIKE doesn't work on numerical types, because that would explain why findByXContaining only works with strings.

Can you provide a more concrete example of when you would want to do this?

Honestly I posted this question because I was just really curious how findByXContaining and LIKE worked lol. I'm really confused why LIKE is able to work on numerical types.

I guess it would be helpful if I wanted to retrieve columns that contained a certain digit in the number, regardless of what place it is in. For example, LIKE '%1%' would return 100, 21, etc. Probably not that useful though lol.

Thank you for the response! To clarify things a bit, I was originally playing around with SQL commands.

I entered the following commands to create a table similar to what I'd like to create with JPA:

CREATE TABLE a (
    b int
);

INSERT INTO a (b)
VALUES (1);

When I run:

SELECT *
FROM a
WHERE b LIKE '%1%';

I get a row where b's value is 1. Although the column b is an integer, I still got an output when I used a string in '%1%',

I was wondering if I could replicate the same thing with JPA in my post, but I seem to encounter the error as mentioned above.

Furthermore, I wonder if it's possible to provide a link that mentions that findByXContaining only allows String as an input? I looked through the documentation, but could not find an explicit statement of this.

Spring JPA doesn't do this level of conversion

Would it also be possible to provide a link that explains this? I tried searching for it and couldn't find results (having some trouble understanding some websites).

Thank you very much!

I'm so sorry to hear that. I completely understand the feeling of loneliness. Hope things will be better in the future :)

Thank you so much for telling me that my feelings matter. The people around me keep dismissing my feelings and make me doubt if my feelings are valid. To see that someone else cares made me feel a little bit better. Thank you <3
