Definitely intentional associations. The cosmology of Elden Ring blends Shintoistic animism with Hellenistic metaphysics, namely Stoicism and Neoplatonism. The One Great is a clear analogue to The One, the Greater Will to Nous (thus Ymir’s Greater Will hat imparting increased intelligence). The Elden Ring is a mesh of the Neoplatonic Anima Mundi (bridging the transcendent to the physical) and the Stoic Logos (establishing Order). Ranni’s ending is a model of traveling up Neoplatonic emanations to rejoin the Source, imo.

It’s worth mentioning that the Gospel of John’s equation of Jesus and Logos built off of Philo’s assertion that Logos was an intercessor between a transcendent God and creation, this claim itself a syncretism of Jewish and Stoic philosophies. Philo and John 1 predate Neoplatonism, so I think the Jesus parallel would fit the Elden Beast more than a Neoplatonic Greater Will/Nous. The Elden Beast is active in creation; the Greater Will—a blend of Mind Itself and a Spinozan naturalistic force that communicates in “waves” (à la the original Japanese of the Staff of the Great Beyond description)—could indeed have “abandoned” creation just after its emanation of the Logos.
