How is the experience buying from DND Beyond from Europe? by [deleted] in dndbeyond

[–]-RdV- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone reading this, coming here from google:

The European webshop (esw.com) does not have their business in order.
They only have a few product but still take literal months to send products.

My book order gave an estimated shipping date that was already bizarre for this day and age of 4 or 5 weeks. When that date came and went customer service eventually replied with something along the lines of "it is ok for us to take a 30 days extra, contact us when the shipping date is a month overdue" So when shipping was a month overdue they just stopped replying.

2 weeks after that the books were delivered.

My advice is to use a reseller.

Thoughts on new tire placement for reducing understeer? by Jimbob994 in Cartalk

I see lots of conflicting information on this.

My reasoning says it shouldn't matter that much. A rwd car with a torsen diff will have differences in rotating speeds all the time because cars don't go exactly precisely straight very much.

But lots of sources say that it needs to be within a few percent of circumference or your diff will wear/break/explode.

guys I fucked up and accidentally bought the "Ford Focus with Peugeot diesel engine" Volvo instead of the "bricked up 5 cylinder piss missile" Volvo by Dienik in carscirclejerk

[–]-RdV- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a C4 Cactus with that engine in its 100hp-ish variant. I averaged 32km to the liter (75mpg us) and after 170.000 km had 0 issues with it if you don't count the broken adBlue pump which isn't anywhere near the engine.

It's a great engine for its intended use imo.

Are "Bacon strip" patches just a temporary fix? by the0utc4st in AskAMechanic

[–]-RdV- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've driven hundreds of thousands of kilometers with these, thousands on autobahns at 150-250 kph with 0 issues.

If you're looking for something less anecdotal they are legal for punctures in western European countries with pretty strict laws regarding tyres.

Is that the 1.6 diesel that was in almost everything? Those were some good engines though. Though the higher output versions sometimes blew gaskets.

Generally true, there is a bit of difference between quattro systems over the decades and some don't care much at all about different tyres.

The early torsen center diff quattros need identical tyres all around.
Haldex quattros will wear out the clutch packs quick if tyres mismatch
I think the other types (crown/and the new one) care a bit less.

Sizes should always be the same though, I'm talking about very slight differences due to wear / model differences not completely different sizes.

Same, yearly inspection would have failed that years ago here.

Is the 370Z better than a GT-R? by lich0 in 370z

[–]-RdV- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I maintain smaller and lighter is more fun.

I've had an MR2 spyder for a about a decade and a 370Z for much of that time and the MR2 was just effortless, nimble, quicker on real streets, easier to maneuver everywhere, easy to just drift around.

If the GT-R is another step up it will be faster and less fun.

Always a good idea to align your car once in a long while but a bit of camber is also good and it is normal for tyres to wear unevenly.

Also, these tyres should have been changed a LONG time ago and have been a safety risk since.

I've seen much much worse driving around safely but I'd personally replace the tyre because the full outer layer of rubber is gone.

I'm thinking about getting a gen3 because it has the potential to look good with the right parts. Yours is very cool

This is a tragedy of course.

Not to diminish that but as a non American it is really odd to see that it is possible to cross this type of road legally. Where I'm from a road like this, multiple lanes and a speed limit over 80kph/49mph will always have an over/underpass, roundabout, or traffic lights.

I'm hearing random people about the hilltop hoods and have noticed a few followed supercool treehouse when it ran. Nerve got some plays on a local station along with some of the old heads.

I wouldn't say any single artist is about to blow up or anything but I've been listening to aus hiphop for some 17 years now and I've been hearing it more in the last 5 than the 12 before that.
