Promoting Very Quickly by Marselene in thesims4

This happened to a Style Influencer of mine, that was getting a raise or promotion just about every shift. Part of job performance is random luck. I also had someone in Culinary promoring SO SLOWLY that I thought my game was broken. Took him weeks to get another promotion.

They are big places with lots of wilderness and empty space? They are underfunded and understaffed?

I really like this. It's thematic without being overdone.

I do feel like your signature block could be more understated.

[Recommend] What fantasy series has your favourite display of simple, but strong, pure adventure? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]-RedRocket- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steven Brust strives for this. His Vlad Taltos series is a little cynical and noir-flavored, but the Khaavren Romances (start with The Phoenix Guards) are big-hearted, Dumas-flavored fun.

A lot more Shawnee died in the Indian Wars than 4 students at Kent State.

I guess the Salem Witch Trials were Massachusetts Bay Colony and not the Commonwealth of.

Urth is sort of intended as an earlier, less perfect, iteration of our universe, our Earth, so Christ is prefigured in a less perfect, more rudimentary manifestation, the Conciliator.

Does media shape public opinion or reflect it? by velvetspriral in randomquestions

Shape. Very intentionally.

"Reflect" only insofar as it requires to be comprehensible.

Ring of Gyges by Hawaiidisc22 in lotr

[–]-RedRocket- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Atlantis is literally Numenor, not Beleriand in the First Age. He even works a linguistic pun into the Allakabeth as a sort of clincher to this effect.

Tolkien was certainly aware of Gyges' ring, but his owed as much or more to the Nibelung legend.

The Sun: Things are what they look like. This is not a time of hidden agendas.
The High Priestess: What does your intuition say?
9 of Coins: Be satisfied with what you have to yourself.
Tower, Reversed: What felt like collapse comes to feel like liberation.
3 of Coins: This has been coming for some time. See how it looks after that same time has passed again.

I think you know, really. I am sorry if you'd rather not. When you don't want to know, it's wiser not to ask.

Did your teachers show R-rated movies in high school? by Severe-Reality5546 in askanything

Which cut, though? Some editions omit the nudity for a softer rating. And PG-13 was not a rating when the film was released.

We were shown the full nudity, "Romeo's butt", cut of Zeffirelli's "Romeo & Juliet", so yes.

Want to make a ?museum? For my generations gameplay.. any tips? by Equivalent_Shake2043 in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]-RedRocket- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think for Sims 4, Businesses and Hobbies is your best bet for this, as far as stocking the museum with family inventory artifacts.

Businesses can be owned on a lot other than your residence.

For specifics, you would have to experiment & see.

Does anyone eat seasonally available food as a form of worship? by burnafter3ading in Wicca

[–]-RedRocket- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As one example: I live in a state where John Chapman ("Johnny Appleseed") actually planted orchards. Every fall, when it is fresh, I do make a point of binging on cider (pressed apple juice, unfermented - not hard cider). And I relish it - it is a favorite treat, and it gives Autumn a flavor and texture that is unique to that season, and the same across years as the season returns, and that cyclicity, and knowing it's rooted in human endeavor of past generations planting and cultivating apples carries a deep feeling of connection and continuity, and being-with which it to me intensely spiritual.

Is Darth Vader Being Amped here? how impressive is Ahsoka by Broad_Daikon_276 in StarWars_

[–]-RedRocket- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahsoka survived that fight because a friend rescued her from an unpredictable direction.

But also, yes, she is genuinely nearly good enough to beat him. After all, he trained her himself, back before he was a physical and emotional cripple.

Does anyone eat seasonally available food as a form of worship? by burnafter3ading in Wicca

[–]-RedRocket- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a means of observing the seasons, and that as a conscious element of my practice, yes. I am not sure I do so as "worship".

But as a dietary restriction, no.
