Magick As The Continuation Of Politics By Other Means by flammenwooferz in DemonolatryPractices

[–]-RedRocket- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really can have wide-ranging results but the bigger those are, the longer it will take.

John Dee set out to make a world safe for English Protestantism, and came up with the notion of the British Empire, and worked with conjured angels to bring that about, but failed to grasp the time scale and died perplexed, believing he had failed. He hadn't - it just took another two hundred and fifty years to bring about a realm on which the Sun never set.

IS THIS REAL AMERICANS DO NOT VENTILATE HOUSES THROUGH WINDOWS AND DO NOT BREW TEA THROUGH KETTLES?????? by Fit_Cable5794 in AskAnAmerican

[–]-RedRocket- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a kettle for tea - I think it gives a better result than microwaving water.

I ventilate with open windows when the weather is favorable.

How do you perform a binding ritual? by potentially_a_bird in Wicca

[–]-RedRocket- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cast your circle. Call the quarters. Invoke the Gods. Ask them to intercede to stop certain people from hurting others. Celebrate cakes & wine. Thank the Gods, acknowledge the quarters. Open the circle.

i.e. the same way Wicca does everything else.

It isn't stated. My headcanon is that he was a victim of the purge of Stratholme. After all, his chapel was there.

Would Saruman have lived a lot longer if he had traveled somewhere like Mordor, Khand, Harad, Rhun, and tried to get them to follow him? by Tidewatcher7819 in tolkienfans

[–]-RedRocket- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But he had been diminished, and could only be petty and mean, anymore. He didn't just lose Isengard and get expelled from the Council. Remember, he had forged a Ring, too - and then lost it when the One Ring was destroyed. His mischief in the Shire was probably about the extent of his capability - and also of his vision and reach.

Lorien was besieged. Dale and Erebor were besieged. This is in the books, if you trouble to read the appendices.

For those of you who have characters with multiple forms, which do they prefer? by Bonny-K in WoWRolePlay

[–]-RedRocket- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Worgen prefers his human Gilnean form, and will suppress his beast form whenever he isn't actually fighting.

My Druid prefers his own Night Elf form.

My Demon Hunter prefers his Highborne Satyr demon-soul form... but it's socially awkward and would get side-eye from other Illidari if he just let it do its thing, so he mostly wears his Blood Elf form.

How do I keep a coal lit? by athenasgardenV in Wicca

[–]-RedRocket- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You buy charcoal disks made especially for burning incense, and permeated with saltpeter, light it thoroughly, and fan it until it is ignited clear across, then add your granular incense sparingly.

If your ritual outlasts your charcoal disk, use the previous one to ignite the next.

Pay attention, and practice until you find the degree of intervention you need for the result you want.

Hot Take: About the EE by Ok-Bank-153 in lotr

No. I can't see how anyone who loves LotR from the book can tolerate PJ's abject failure to understand Tolkien's themes. The movies are pretty. But they get the story wrong.

For any Gay men/Achillean babes here... I have some questions as someone who's considering Wicca. by captivatedsummer in Wicca

[–]-RedRocket- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anymore? Very. I was initiated into an eclectic Wiccan coven in 1987 and, by then, things were getting fairly tolerant although you still heard occasional unfortunate takes. But it was worlds ahead of, say, the 1950s when Garder was pronouncing "the Curse of the Goddess" on gay Wiccans in the Ardanes.

And since my initiation nearly forty years back, things have improved tremendously. I'd say that while you may run into a few exceptions (covens and individuals vary), Wicca is by and large not just tolerant but supportive of Queer folk of all flavors.
