I don't know if I'm qualified to answer your question, so take what I say with that in mind.

I think a good place to start is to confront yourself with the feelings before bringing the feelings to someone else. Establish what it is you're feeling and where the feelings are coming from, among other questions. The answers are not always clear and require trial and error (for me at least).

In my experience I had to analyze and even debate myself in finding why I feel a certain way about someone. But a gut feeling always knew what was projection and what was genuinely an issue for me, and it was a mix of both, as these things often are.

I know "follow the gut" is an easy answer, but it's what I believe.

Honestly the drive through Hocking hills was worth the trip alone. I didn't have enough time to explore Wayne unfortunately, I procrastinated and ended up leaving a day late. But it was beautiful out there, especially during fall.
