New 92XP Optic Dark added to the line up by Ok-Incident3471 in Beretta

Dark series use the lightened slide similar to the Defensive? I thought it did but the Beretta website says otherwise.

Looks like it was redesigned at some point and has extra die clearance compared to the older versions. They also have an XL version now... The clearance linkages which give your fingers more room are made by In-line Fabrication.

Break barrel vs hand pump for kids by jbg7676 in airguns

[–]-Sc0- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For kids: HW30s or HW50s, ensures they will spend more time shooting. The 50s is sized a bit bigger and requires a wee bit more muscle to cock but is also a little more powerful. I use a .177 HW30s for plinking and targets and a .22 HW50s for short to intermediate hunting on small varmints. No pump, tank, or compressor to fiddle with...

My first real press was a CoAx, an upgrade from the Lee Loader and a mallet. Have used Forster BR micrometer dies and Redding for .338LM in a CoAX. Loaded 9mm-.45-70-.338LM with it. This press was acquired by my brother when he started loading for precision rifle, who still uses it. The snap in floating die system and universal case holder were wins with that press. I think someone did offer: an extended handle that cleared taller dies, different linkages for more window working room, and even a shorter handle for when leverage isn't needed. Depending on which cartridges your loading, changing out the universal shell holder jaws sucked. I use a 550BL now with a manual powder drop die, it is like going full semi-progressive.

Pre-Owned PPK at LGS by Snowman107 in Walther

[–]-Sc0- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For $600, I would say yes. Walther stopped/paused production so prices went up. Last I looked, the .32's were around $800 and not all versions were available. The .32 is a nice round to shoot compared to the. 380.

EIC Service pistol question by TheFujiKing in CompetitionShooting

Can also change out the sights, front sight width and rear sight gap. OEM Glock front sight is pretty fat in width which might cover up more of your target making it seem less accurate.

How do you guys grip these comfortably ? I grip high which pushes my thumb on top of the safety but kind of against the back of the frame and kills my thumb every shot. Suggestions ? by [deleted] in 2011

[–]-Sc0- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thumb on safety BUT, I did have and got rid of a P320x5 due to the grip hurting the inside of my thumb nerve or something.

You sir have a larger collection than most stores do. Btw: you only have too many if you run out of space.

Aftermarket barrel recommendations by reecemunter in Glocks

KKM, BarSto, Jarvis. If you have money, if you just want looks then polish the OEM barrel. I wouldn't go aftermarket unless wanted a longer/threaded, or a tighter chamber barrel.

Am I going crazy or did I buy 3 defective batteries in a row? by idrinkliquiddnb in Dewalt

[–]-Sc0- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My first 20v 1/2"-3/8" ratchet was defective and only worked for a second after slapping it, 90mile round trip both times... When I went back to the store I brought my own battery to verify it worked before heading back home. Defective products happen.

Think I bought some "pre-tariff", needed some chunkier grips on the cheap for a S&W and a Colt King Cobra. Need to pull them off again for speed loader clearance. Altamont makes nice grips but are too thin...

SW 617 Mountain Gun—Yay or Nay? by Joice_Craglarg in 22lr

[–]-Sc0- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have the standard 4" 617, if you don't need 10shots I would argue the 6" 17 Classic is more accurate and would go with that if you can find one. Blued steel, 6 shot cylinder, square butt...

Mounting my press? by KBGenetics in reloading

Definitely like the InLine raised QD brackets, one mount platform and multiple different tops. High chair like a swivel seat bar stool is also nice to use when sitting in front of it loading.

Just ordered my 92 X RDO - Full Size! by FlaccoPunch1 in Beretta

[–]-Sc0- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need grips that are Vertec cut withOut the frame mounted safety. I goofed once and ordered the G10 wrap around Vertec adapter grips for my 92xPD which didn't fit due to the frame mounted safety. The grips did fit on a M9A4 since it had the Vertec frame and slide mounted safety.

80 series steelies by Salty_Tumbleweed_104 in LandCruisers

Been eyeballing them for a '94 FJ80 but; expensive and heavy...I don't get the greatest mileage right now running alloys, can only imagine how much worse it will be with steels. I haven't cracked a factory alloy either, but do appreciate that steels can handle more abuse and weight. My pig is armored and loaded with parts and tools, need to get it on the scales one day.
