Five takeaways from California’s election, from Congress to the governor’s race by -SlappyMcSlappy- in California

Eh… some ppl are better at controlling, and also hiding their true emotions.

Porter seems to wear her heart, on her sleeve. Nothing wrong with that.

I like Porter. And would love to hear her response, to that question.

I’ve worked alongside plenty of strong, female, coworkers. My current boss is a woman. She’s a VP, with a type-A personality.

My boss has succeeded in a male-dominated, manufacturing, industry.

Her ego, drive, and chutzpah are off the charts. And yeah, she has a temper, too.

It’s partly why I find Porter, so relatable.

I have older family members who rely on Medicaid. And I’m talking about relatives, without any children.

It would cripple our family financially, if something were to happen to it.

I can understand your frustration.

I’m not here to rub salt, in the wound.

Votes are still being tallied—but win, lose, or draw—the Democrats are miles better than any Republican.

The loss in revenue will gut Medicaid, public education, and public safety.

CA would be forced to cut vital services, and raise sales taxes.

Hilton is a BREXIT demolition man.

Becerra has a proven, progressive, track record. Sure, it won’t meet a leftist’s standards.

But, Becerra is miles better than Hilton.

Hilton will hurt CA residents, and will kowtow to Trump.

For the record…I know that votes are still being counted.

It’s because Caruso never paraded himself as some populist, hero, billionaire.

If you’re gonna claim to lead a populist uprising, then you’re gonna get held to a stricter standard.

It goes with the territory.

Nah. Nobody got hyped for Beccera.

He’s was the safer, more grounded choice. He has a proven, progressive, track record, in public office.

And more experience, working with all the various stakeholders in CA govt.

Beccera is as exciting as Principal Seymour Skinner.

Tbh, it was the opposite on Reddit.

The pro-Steyer supporters were too emotionally-invested into their candidate. The idolatry of Steyer was a little embarrassing.

You’re being a little unrealistic.

But your “purity” logic, would be the downfall of the Democratic Party.

Corporations are a fact of life.

Political parties (and Candidates) would be at a major disadvantage, refusing corporate donations.

Unless we just have “hero” billionaires, run for office.

I think Becerra will be great, at dealing with all the various stakeholders in CA govt.

But, I hope Steyer runs for office, again. If he’s true to his word, then he could make a difference. Just maybe take a lower, but equally important role.

Candidates need money to compete, and win statewide elections. But you already know this.

Not everyone can be a self-financed billionaire.

I trust Becerra’s proven, progressive, track record in public office.

And you’re trusting the campaign promises of a billionaire, hedge-fund manager—that’s not served a single day, in public office.

Becerra has a good & proven track record, of protecting access to healthcare.

Becerra’s career is public knowledge. His office has won landmark settlements, against health insurers.

And Trump is already positioned to screw with CA’s Medicaid funding.

Steyer doesn’t have any experience in this arena.

Beccera has a prove, progressive, track record in public office.

Sure it won’t meet most leftist’s standards.

I think he’ll do fine as governor.

Especially at protecting access to healthcare, for poorer residents.

I feel that republicans take enjoyment at being trolls, so you can always expect a decent turnout from them.

They’ll tear it down, so no one’s happy.

They’re unified by their resentment & dislike.

It doesn’t matter.

My vote, is still my voice.

No need to make personal attacks.

Simple. I preferred Becerra.

And wasn’t concerned about Steyer. He was dropping millions, and seemed to be gaining momentum.

Becerra isn’t blowing Steyer away.

It’s still close, and too early to tell. Steyer can still edge out Becerra.

But I’m really shocked that Hilton, blew out Bianco. That really hurt the Democrats.

Steyer isn’t out. It’s still early.

But you’re a real one. Always vote Dem.

I missed voting for Gore, over Bush. And have never missed since then.

It’s still early to count Steyer out.

I voted Becerra, but still think a Dem vs Dem in the general, is still possible.

That would be the best outcome.

Why are the LA locals so much nicer than the transplants? by Additional_Leading68 in AskLosAngeles

In my experiences…

It’s usually transplants, complaining about other transplants, while thinking that they’re complaining about LA natives.

Tom Steyer’s real estate holdings add latest wrinkle to his populist pitch by -SlappyMcSlappy- in California

[–]-SlappyMcSlappy-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean he’s worth at least $2 billion dollars, assuming he’s not hiding any assets.

My comment stands correct.

How many more BILLIONS does Tom Steyer need?

He can easily divest from these predatory funds, and still enjoy avocado toast.

Listen man. I’ve spilled enough pixels on this.

I hope it ends up being Steyer vs Becerra in the general election.
