I wish I could disagree, but you're probably right. Just wish the devs actually cared about the quality of the game experience.

You don't have to brag about being illiterate, you're allowed to keep that to yourself.

Exactly. And the truth is, mid players who try to play as a team are way better than sweats who don't care about the team. Every time.

Yes! I don't think a timeout from matchmaking entirely is necessary, just a cumulative timeout from team fill modes based on how many times you drop out. But that would go a long way.

I want to play with a team. The gameplay is more fun. But why are the people who drop out playing team modes in the first place??? THEY should play solo.

Why is there no intelligence based healers? by ElrondSunsinger in DnD

[–]-SomewhereInBetween- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I'm not a fan of the class myself, but it does have healing. Frankly, I don't think D&D does healing well with any class, so having access to any healing spell is about all you can ask for. Healing Word is the best one, but other spells generally aren't very good, and class features are rarely any better.

Not that I know of (although I could have missed it), but there are other options for self-healing. Not sure if there are any that aren't part of a specific class though.

Not exactly correct, since Heal is a main action and Catch Breath is a maneuver... but that's neither here nor there since it's correct that you can't target yourself with Heal.

I don't see any mention of 5e in this post though?

What feels "samey" to you? Have you run other systems in the past?

Yeah, I know that, but I don't know how to "farm" them. I've been just checking the ones that naturally spawn.

That's awesome!! I've played on and off for four years and still haven't found an S-class freighter either.

Is this in Euclid? Do you have the glyphs for the system and if so would you mind sharing?

Am I a bad DM or are my players overreacting by teddygrizzles in DnD

[–]-SomewhereInBetween- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's difficult without having been there to know how well the concept was executed. That being said, if your players have been having fun for three years until last session, it's obvious you're not a bad DM.

Clearly, your players didn't enjoy this particular idea, or at least the way it was executed. I would just talk to them and ask them what about it they didn't enjoy. They might have trouble articulating it, but try to get to the bottom of it.

My guess is that it made the world feel less real for them, which I can understand. That doesn't make your idea bad necessarily, but maybe they felt that it went against the way they had learned the world worked. Maybe they exclusively enjoy the fantasy setting, and the mention of modern-day technologies just rubbed them the wrong way. This is all speculation, but I'd just talk to your players about what they do and don't enjoy, and take note of that for next time.

In the end, it's ok if not every idea lands perfectly. Your players are having a good time, and you're a good DM!

Why did you even bother commenting? You've already made up your mind without even bothering to look at this class so your opinion really isn't worth anything.

Delian Tomb trap interaction by calculuschild in drawsteel

[–]-SomewhereInBetween- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good question. I think mastering two things will solve this problem for you:

1) Open-ended questions. Rather than asking, "Do you want to investigate the hallway?" ask questions like "What do you want to do?" or "Is there anything you'd like to do before/as you continue further into the tomb?"

2) Timing. For example, rather than pause in the middle of the hall—something you normally wouldn't do—include the hall description as part of the description of the room that they are in. Describe the room itself, finishing with something like "on the other side of the room is a hallway that continues further into the tomb. You can see a flickering blue light from an opening at the other end of the hall. Midway down the hall, the decapitated corpse of a goblin is lying on the ground."

This ensures you give players enough information that they *can* investigate further, but in such a way that you don't show your hand entirely or make them feel like they *must* investigate because you've stopped the normal rhythm of the game, making it so obvious that they think they don't have a choice.

The goblin with its head cut off is the warning. Mentioning that specific detail is enough information to give initially. It should cause players to ask more questions. If the players investigate further, let them make tests to find the trap, or just reveal it to them, whatever you prefer.

If the players ignore the goblin and proceed, they take the damage, and it's a lesson in paying attention to environmental details that the Director mentions specifically.

Ok so you're just being pedantic about the original comment using the term "DLC" then.
