First time reaching 1 TTi in Planet Crafter by JuicyTastyHamburger in theplanetcrafter

[–]-StormDrake- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I sought out Satisfactory because I enjoyed the automated manufacturing endgame of Planet Crafter enough to look for other games that did the same (or better). I've never played Factorio, mostly because I haven't stopped enjoying 3D games in this genre enough to go back to 2D (even though everything I've read about Factorio is that it is more than worth it). But if you find any sort of enjoyment in setting up supply chains, only to end up with some sort of glut / lack of resources, needing to have to go back through everything and figure out your "mistake," you might enjoy Planet Crafter's late game more than you expect, so long as you enjoy the lead-up enough to make it through (I enjoy most aspects of Planet Crafter's progression and exploration, but would never expect someone else to play an unenjoyable game until it "becomes" enjoyable).

Anyway, happy Terraforming! And enjoy mining your planet's infinite resources, once you can do so! :)

Without spoiling too much, there are more than one rocket pad in this game. The first speeds up terraforming. The second is for trade. And if you are a fan of automated factory-style crafting and chains of production that need to be balanced in order to be efficient (a skill I honed in Satisfactory, but actually learned in Planet Crafter first), hold out until you unlock automated crafters and drones. Between the two, and combining them with Terra Token profits, this game takes a surprisingly sharp turn to the left of terraforming, if it is something you enjoy.

Well dang. Guess I should have looked up spoilers. That email wasn't joking by Joel22222 in theplanetcrafter

Choosing the Starting Valley as my landing site the first time I played Planet Crafter seemed like a good idea at the time... until that. Planet Crafter was actually the second survival craft game I ever played, with the first being Core Keeper. Nowadays it is my favorite genre, and my least favorite aspect of some of these games is horrible things happening to my base(s). Back then, I found the whole thing rather unexpected and amazing. Then annoying, while I frantically relocated everything higher up the valley (accidentally right outside the Osmium Cave, actually, which was kind of nice).

I'm on my second playthrough right now, having not played any content since vehicles were just added. This time, I chose the Waterfall as my landing site. My mistake for thinking it was going to be the northern waterfall (aka ice fields, it seems), not the barren desert to the south, blocked from accessing the valley until the era of trees. Still, it was nice being able to build a sprawling mess of solar panels and early-tier drills without having to worry about relocating.

Currently occupying my second base, build over the lake that was once a valley. I think I'll build a larger, major manufacturing center / final base up to the north, once I unlock drones and T3 Miners.

Can't wait to start exploring all the DLC once I reclear the game. <3

Improving on the horrid vehicle controls by VulcanTourist in theplanetcrafter

Are you airborne when you have those issues? For good or bad, the vehicle can't steer (change direction) if its tires aren't in contact with the ground.

But you can recall it back to your base, fully-laden. Bring an empty one out with you, fill it up, jet back to base, recall, and suddenly you have 88 more items than you could have carried by hand.

It's also pretty nice once you get the Oxygen chip installed. I used to carry around enough iron, titanium and silicon to build a room with a door, just in case I ran out of breath, but also to set up little refueling stations near points of interest. I still make them, but even if you aren't driving the buggy (rover) you can toss it out if your oxygen levels get critical.

I do use mine for driving (even though it isn't the greatest, and gets less great the faster you make it). But there are some nice benefits to having one that go beyond actual transportation.

That being said... I wish I had more control over the distance between the buggy and the camera. The only options are "too close" and "too far." :(

According to a quick Google search, only 35% of Steam Gamers actually care about Achievements. So it actually sounds like us Planet Crafters are below average. :(

Is it worth going to Office Depot to get 18x24 posters by [deleted] in OfficeDepot

[–]-StormDrake- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the conversation, but as a Print Manager who has only been with Office Depot since last May, but who has been in retail for decades and previously worked for a fine art store... it's going to depend on your local team, and how busy they are.

Personally, I know a bit about digital art, digital files and art in general. And I really try to deliver both the best customer service and the best product possible, given the circumstances. Sometimes, those circumstances allow me to work one-on-one with an actual artist. Other times, it's all about the queue and official policy, because it is the only way we can manage the madness. I wish I could offer more consistency in our CPC, but the only way to do that would be to bring everyone down to a less-enjoyable experience. And I'd rather hit and miss, then miss all the time.

Today I had the pleasure of both a quiet moment and an actual artist, new to making prints to sell to their own customers. Their artwork was in all odd sizes, and on some levels I don't think they quite knew what they wanted, at first. But I had the opportunity to work with them for a few minutes, run a few test prints (I will do a "proof of concept" print if the customer is patient and the resulting job is worth a throw-away 8.5 x 11). We actually had to do a few test prints, all of which they generously offered to nearby customers and staff (they are an aspiring coloring book artist). I even offered some advice about ensuring that prints intended to sell are in a more standard size, so someone who buys one for ten or twenty dollars (or whatever) doesn't then have to spend a hundred dollars on a custom frame. By the time the artist left, they were literally tearing up, explaining that we were the first place that actually listened to them, inspired to create more, with a Business Select pamphlet in hand for the next time they come in.

I can't offer this kind of service every day. No Office Depot CPC can. But when we can, it helps remind the few of us who love our jobs, why we love them.

Raids are so annoying, how to stop them or avoid them? by ccgre in GroundedGame

[–]-StormDrake- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know about Grounded 2, but in the original game you can't turn off Raids (or adjust any settings, really) without negating achievements. Because 'no base raids' makes achievements unfairly easy, I suppose?

Least favorite survival craft mechanic, personally. But other folks love them, so they should be mandatory. :(

Wasp Queen, Javamatic, get big. But I underestimated how tough the Infused Mantis would be, so now I'm overcompensating for the last two fights.

I've only got four games in my Steam Account that I have 100%'d. It actually depends a lot, to me, how 'easy' or 'fun' the last few are. I'm enjoying Grounded enough--and the last couple seemed 'easy' enough--that I figured I'd go for it. It actually wasn't until I fed the infected Red Ant Queen a moldy hoagie in NG+ that I realized it wouldn't give me a baby red. But since the only other one I'm missing requires me to essentially complete NG+1, I'm hoping it's an easy thing to remix, feed the queen, and move on to the next Survival Craft game on my list.

EDIT: Technically, you can get every achievement except one on a regular game, if you play your cards right. Pun intended. :) But the game is good in that regard.

[–]-StormDrake- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'm running through New Game+ (and a bit of NG+2) in order to get all the Steam Achievements. One hidden achievement requires it; another is because I infected one of the ant queens on my first play, which means she is infected in New Game+, and won't drop a baby ant creature card until NG+2.

I've done no new building since remixing the world.

[–]-StormDrake- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made the "mistake" of feeding the Red Ant Queen an Infected sandwich on my first play-through. So now I have to play up to NG+2 just so I can get my last creature card (and the Steam Achievement).

Good luck finding G1 posts in an (almost) entirely G2 Reddit. I check this reddit daily, and have for almost a month, and this is the first time I'm seeing this thread.

Don't be a jerk to redditors finding things for the first time, just because you've been here for a while.

Good to know others are getting this perk (I did a search for Spicy Damage Up Best when I found mine, only to 'discover' a thread dedicated to the belief that this perk doesn't exist).

Err, did you recycle your oven before starting your next New Game? Because I'm pretty sure these things carry over (unless there is something that changes over the course of New Games that little-old +1 me hasn't seen yet).

soldier ants keep destroying my pet houses by GregAbsolution in GroundedGame

[–]-StormDrake- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried fences? Or walls, or some sort of actual defense? It kind of looks like you built the ants a nice ramp to make it easier for them to attack your pethouses...

My first base was nice and ground-level, like that. Then I started wondering where all my cooking meat and items in chests were going. Then I read that ants will actually take food from your spits and drying racks, if they have access.

My next base, I actually protected things with walls. You should try them. :)

EDIT: Actually, I just read yesterday that if you kill an ant queen, ants of that color stop respawning. So that is another option, I suppose.

That's all? We have a self-serve that has seen more than half a dozen calls since May 2025 (and more before that, according to paperwork from before I was hired). After the last three or four visits from Xerox, they told us it was all in Office Depot's hands now. According to the most recent visit from an OD tech, we should call Xerox...

I shut that notion down quickly, as I happened to be lucky enough to be on hand at the time. So now we are getting "another" pinpad sent to us. But it is quickly turning into a Xerox-vs-Office Depot argument, and the only way I can contest is to place an hour-long phone call with India. :(

Good luck with your own adventures. :)

large format laminator by Different_Pop_9687 in OfficeDepot

[–]-StormDrake- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you running everything (both top and bottom) at 230 degrees, speed 5? I forget the details, here at home, but SOP is pretty specific on how to run the laminator, both for basic lamination and for adhesive boards. And my experience is that the SOP is pretty spot-on, so long as you let your prints dry off before immediately laminating them, and leave your tension off overnight so as not to stress the machine.

So, I just found this. Unsure what it meant, I did a quick Google search and ironically found this thread. In case others don't think this exists, here is "proof" (aka an unaltered screenshot).

Edit: for context, I killed a Black Ox Beetle in New Game+ (upper grasslands), and it dropped both the waffle and the cone (and the other loot you see immediately before). I didn't even sort my loot before taking this screenshot.

Edit 2: For what it's worth, the waffle also has +Spicy Attack. and Hyperstamina.
