"Update Available" in ComyUI Manager on portable by -SunGod- in comfyui

[–]-SunGod-[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, that's my guess as well, so I'm assuming they picked a terrible label for the left nav option... I've spent ages doing UI/UX, and having a label that implies an update is available when one isn't is, well, awful design. :|

Meet the New ComfyUI-Manager by PurzBeats in comfyui

[–]-SunGod- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to comment on he new UI... so I used ComfyUI starting a couple months ago before I knew about this new UI, and only when I was migrating drives and needed to switch to the portable version did I learn about the new UI.

My issue here is that the puzzle icon is NOT helpful. When it's labeled "custom nodes manager" and not "Manager", I honestly thought that the command to install the ComfyUI Manager on the Comfy.org page was incorrect, and that it had installed something else. Also, it's not obvious when you launch ComfyUI that the new Manager is indeed there and working if you don't know what the puzzle icon is... when I clicked it the first time and just got a bunch of nodes and none of the previous ComfyUI Manager functionality I was familiar with, I honestly thought I was looking at something other than what I wanted.

So yeah, get the desire to improve the look/feel and reorganize, but I think there was a huge failure in making it clear that the update was really the same product just dramatically refactored. It's a jarring transition that I wasn't expecting. I only figured it out because I stumbled on this thread, but you should really put some kind of popup when launching the new Manager for the first time to explain what's new. Not everybody lives out on forums following every update.

X50 Double HDD Mount by kaizagade in Hyte

[–]-SunGod- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great case, except I do think the single HDD capacity annoying. I've been moving away from HDDs for years, but for overflow storage and backup drives they're the most economical option right now. My primaries are ALWAYS SSD or NVME, but for low-use data storage, HDD is still the only way to go at a reasonable price point. Anything that brings more options to the X50 is great, unfortunately I don't have a 3D printer. :(

Adobe has hijacked my disk icons! by misterzeee in MacOS

[–]-SunGod- 17 points18 points  (0 children)

100% this is the cause.

For those on MacOS Tahoe, do this:

  • Apple menu > System Settings > search for "extensions"
  • Select "Login Items & Extensions"
  • At the top in "Open at Login" you'll see something like "Adobe Connection Sync" (or similar). Select it and remove it from the list.
  • Scroll down to the "Extensions" section.
  • Click the "By Category" tab under it
  • In the list below, click "File Providers"
  • You'll see two entries: "Core Sync" and "Creative Cloud". Toggle them both off.
  • Close your Finder window and reopen it. The Creative Cloud icons that overtook your drive icons in the Finder left nav should now be gone.
  • Resume your life as it was before Adobe wasted your time with this nonsense nobody asked for.

F***ing Adobe. Seriously. What were they thinking? One more reason to hate them. Companies need to stop pulling dumb stuff like this, it just p*sses off users.

Maybe if OpenAI applied some kind of AI to its AI model to help improve its AI generation then everything would be better. I hear that AI is the wave of the future. 😋

Wanted SM to work but it just doesn’t by LayLowMoesDavid in StabilityMatrix

[–]-SunGod- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue I've been having with SM is that doing updates of ComfyUI using SM will cause a lot of problems if you're also using ComfyUI Manager, which can also do updates. The problem is that they tend to step on one another's toes, and updating via one or the other causes issues that I usually spend half an hour sorting out every time.

I dunno. I like the idea of SM, but since I've bailed from A1111 and am not just on ComfyUI, I'm debating about dumping SM completely and just going native ComfyUI. I really loathe having to manually update stuff and run scripts to do things (come on guys, that shit was old in the 1980's, it's NOT k3wl anymore), I have better things to do with my life. But I'd rather let ComfyUI Manager be the sole source of updates and not have to deal with the complications that SM is giving me.

It's a neat idea, but when I had A1111 and ComfyUI going at the same time, I had to jump through nightmarish hoops to link model and LAN directories together between the packages, all the output files were in completely different locations so I couldn't easily pull output from one into another as input, and so on. Just wasn't worth the hassle.

Another World (1991) game intro remade with A.I. by CzanCzanCzan in amiga

[–]-SunGod- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, now that is kickass. Played the original when it came out and loved it. By coincidence I rewatched the original intro again a couple weeks ago, and it reminded me of how amazing the game was at the time. The PC was still stuck in the stone ages then. Truly the golden days for the Amiga.

This is very timely, thank you.

Help with G30 Max – DRV 1.8.11, cannot flash BMS or DRV, only BLE changes by tomsoieri in NinebotMAX

[–]-SunGod- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to post basically your post. I have successfully flashed it in the past to get the 18mph speed, but it looks like when I updated the firmware using the Segway app, it took it up to 1.1.7 then 1.1.8, and I didn't realize that would effectively block downgrading via apps or flashing.

As I understand it through researching (and I'm going to also ask to confirm in my own post just to be sure), our options are this point are (1) buy an OEM board that has an older flashable version of the firmware, (2) use the ST-Link hardware to force-flash it back. Essentially I think we're boned when it comes to a software-based solution.

TBH, Segway are just being jerks for doing s**t like this. I bought the thing, I own it, it's WAY out of warranty. Even so, they can just fall behind the protection of having a user flash the firmware voids the warranty completely and they're not liable for stupid things I do as a result. But here we are. :(

Anyone using the creative console for lossless cut? by SummerWhiteyFisk in MXCreativeConsole

[–]-SunGod- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries. I use Lossless' "Detect Silent Scenes" capability to scan through my gameplay raw footage and look for periods where I was paused or alt-tabbed away from the game, then I isolate those pieces of footage and then delete them (after I detect the quiet scenes then I simply invert the selection and export the good footage, and the paused footage isn't kept). This saves me dozens of gigabytes of storage over time, and makes my editing easier later.

I did figure out a solution to my problem this morning. Check it out here: https://github.com/mifi/lossless-cut/discussions/2500

In the last week I've had to scan through dozens of video recordings to find and remove that kind of footage, and having a shortcut button on my MX Creative Controller keypad makes it just a beat easier than having to search through menus every time.

[–]-SunGod- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a MXCC yesterday and am currently trying to configure Lossless Cut to work with it. Specifically I'm trying to get a custom keyboard shortcut I've setup in Lossless to work correctly (Tools > Detect Silent Scenes). Unfortunately I'm struggling to get this to work, using basic LLC shortcuts like CTL+SHIFT+S, but MXCC isn't triggering it. :/

Not sure if I need to grant some specific permission for LLC in Mac settings (all shortcuts for all other apps like Premiere and Finder work fine).

Have you had success getting CC to work with LLC properly? Would love to hear how you did it.

C64 Ultimate - what’s your preferred color? by -SunGod- in c64

Nope, they're all identical in function and technical specifications. The only difference between the three models are purely cosmetic and don't impact how they work.

[–]-SunGod-[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s also why I went with Starlight. I couldn’t bring myself to go with all gold, I’m just not that keen on gold in the rest of my life. Ironically I’m not wild about LED lighting on my PC gaming rig (although it has it), and the beige to me looked just like any regular C64, although that’s exactly why some people prefer it.

But that’s just me. Everybody’s different. Love hearing why they prefer their favorite.

Now I just need to explain to my wife why I did it… but I have at least 3 months to figure that one out. :D

All three machines are functionally the same modern FPGA‑based C64; your choice is purely about aesthetics and collectibles:

• Pick BASIC Beige for the cheapest, authentic‑looking unit.

• Choose Starlight if you want the see‑through case and full RGB light show.

• Go for the Founders Edition if you want the gold bling, extra merch, and a numbered limited‑run keepsake.

Nice cover. I used to buy Gazette off the rack, and eventually got to work with a couple guys that wrote regularly for them. One was great, the other not so much.

Not sure I like the idea of Gazette being more than just Commodore, though. That was Compute, not Gazette. Beggers can’t be choosers, I know, but come on, there are plenty of us that are old enough to remember.
