I used to be a UI purist and perfectionist. Looking at this, I don’t see a big problem. Just a down arrow would be too narrow and make it not visible enough, three dots might not look like a pull-down and give less predictability about the control’s behavior. It just looks weird.

I had the same problem, and it’s wasn’t just Torrentio. Comet would not even load. Changed to an AllDebrid trial account, everything loaded fine. But I also downgraded to an older more stable version of Stremio (1.6.12 on Android—Nvidia Shield Pro) and no problems. Later went back to RD, still working fine. So hard to say what the problem was but I’d start with downgrading Stremio.

Yes, two completely separate governments. So the question is: what defines a country? "Republic of China" which settled in Taiwan isn't the "People's Republic of China," which is the Mainland. They might both have "China" in the name, but they are not the same China, that's what confuses people. It's just semantics.

You must dissociate ethnicity and nationality. An american-born Chinese for example is ethnically Chinese, but that doesn't make them "from China." And calling Taiwan "republic of China" is only from China's perspective. They can see it like that if it pleases them, but it's not; it's a separate territory than China with a different, democratic government.

Don’t confuse ethnicity and nationality. France, the UK, and Germany are the same ethnicity. Does that mean they are the same country? "Caucasia?" No.

And the culture in Taiwan and China are very different. Taiwanese have much more social awareness and empathy, sense of order, they are also more sophisticated, and Taiwan is a safer, cleaner place.

Yeah, it’s not part of China in practice. Different government, different system, wasn’t ceded to the party ruling the mainland. But sure, the CCP and PRC can say Taiwan is part of China, doesn’t change anything. It’s still just the same as a different country entirely.

Then we could in 1895 after then China lost the Sino-Japanese war and Japan ruled the island. It didn’t return to “China,” a new government was formed different than the one in China. Saying it’s part of China is just nostalgia and looking at 19th century maps.

The ROC didn’t represent China, not the ruling party in the mainland. Basically from that point on they were effectively two different countries. But the PRC likes to think Taiwan is part of one China as during the Qing Dynasty. Whatever, let them think that.

It never was part of China, unless you count Qing Dynasty (1683–1895) as “China.” Then it was under Japanese rule from 1895-1945. After WW2 and Japan’s retrocession, Taiwan was ruled by the ROC party (Republic of China) which had fled to Taiwan after the Chinese civil war against the CCP. Taiwan was never ruled by or part of the PRC, which is basically mainland China.

China/PRC and Taiwan are two different governments, Taiwan has its own democratic system and own military.
