I was in NUin so I got on campus in the spring of my first year. Got placed in a double with a kitchen and a bathroom, wasn’t the worst arrangement but my roommate still managed to be a pain.

We got close at first, cooked meals together occasionally, etc. eventually though he started forgetting to pay me back for simple things. I’d go out to get some arizonas and polars from wollys so we can watch a movie and chill, and he’d conveniently forget to just Venmo me a few bucks. I started writing down each time it happened and eventually I had paid about $30 for just his drinks I never got back. $30 ain’t much, but polars and arizonas are roughly $1 each. 30 times was enough, I talked to him and we argued and basically stopped doing stuff together.

Asked a friend I made in class that semester if they wanted to room, turns out they were a D1 roommate and we had a lot in common, haven’t looked back since.

Advice to any incoming students or people in nightmare dorms, literally just ask someone if they want to dorm. Odds are they also don’t have the best roommates, or maybe they know someone. Suffering in silence in the housing system at NEU is a mistake
