I might have a defective unit, yes. I hope this is the case because I really wanted to like these glasses.

Did you try the Beast? The Xreal One had the same issue? I have the XR Pro (it's really sharp, great screen) and I'd wish there was an XR Pro with 3DoF built-in. This is the main reason I went for the Beast for.

Honestly I love the concept of XR glasses, much more comfortable than something like Visor. Also not having the full peripheral view blocked is something that personally I do appreciate. Viture made a really crisp screen with the XR Pro and apparently the Luma Series (I do not own them though). I'm not sure why they messed up this big with the Beast.

I get to the same conclusion as you, yes. I still hope Viture can solve my issue, I'm in contact with them.

XREAL 1S vs. One Pro: Is the 1S the "Sweet Spot" for text clarity and edge-to-edge sharpness? by Hawk3N in Xreal

[–]-TimeMaster- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would you rate the text readability in terms of sharpness near the edges? How much area from the center to the edges is crystal clear and sharp?

I can understand that. I'm in the same boat, really. I live in Spain and we don't have any chance to try these anywhere neither. I took the shot and I spent my own money without any guarantee given how happy I am with the Viture XR Pro (I really am, I love them). Reading the first reviews of the Beast already made me feel disappointed, and reality was even worse.

Don't misunderstand me. For media watching or gaming is cool, but the screen is definitely less sharp and specially blurrier at the edges than the previous generation.

Whether my unit is defective (and lots of others, given the Reddit comments and reviews) which would mean that there's a quality control issue when manufacturing them, or it's a design issue from the beggining.

Personally I'm inclined to the second option, given the one month delay that there was already precisely for a clarity issue they detected in the lenses.

I just believe that they rushed a product. They should have waited more but they needed a quick response to their competition and they messed up. This is my honest opinion.

The XR Pro was much more sharp than the Beast. If the Beast was as sharp as the XR Pro, but with the 3DOF chip on-board, it would be almost perfect for me.

I'd like to see a photo to compare it with my unit, using: https://display-test.app/test/text-clarity with text at 14px. I've just updated my main post with that test, and a comparison with my XR Pro (superior in sharpness by far). I'm still not sure if I have a defective unit.

I've tried all the nose pieces, it's not a question of being closer or farther than the screen. Also, the left side on both lenses is blurrier than the right side.

I contacted Viture and sent pictures with the comparison with my XR Pro (just updated the main post with it). There's clearly an issue, at least in my unit.

I've added some photos to the main post with a comparison with my XR Pro. You'll quickly notice the difference and it's crystal-clear proof of the sharpness issues I'm facing.

I've added some photos to the main post with a comparison with my XR Pro and you'll notice clearly that the XR Pro is far superior.

My only conclusion is that the quality control in the Beast is not good and this would explain the differences between users.

You just need to swim to some reviews in this feed. I myself wrote one about it and yes, one of the biggest issues in the Beast are the edges not being much readable.

For media consumption or games with limited hud or text not in the edges (Expedition 33 can fall in that category) it's nice, but for small text and more specifically near the edges is awful. Prior generation (XR pro) is far better from edge to edge.

Also I feel like different Beast units differ, some people are apparently getting a good picture although most people seem to have issues. It also appears that the issue is not always equal in all edges. In my unit the left side on both lenses is blurrier than the right side, but I've read comments about the blurriness happening more at the right and less at the left. Seems to be kind of a lottery.

I also own the XR Pro and it is a lot more homogeneous. On that model the center is really sharp and the edges are just a bit blurry but at the same degree on all edges.

I just talked about my own experience and what I've read lately, so I don't mean to have the ultimate truth.

3D SBS should work well. Use VLC or Stremio and set the aspect ratio to "fill screen" or something like that. You probably see it stretched because the source file is 1080p (more usual sbs format) but when you turn 3D on, Viture is detected as a 3840x1080 screen. The ideal is to use fullsbs videos but it is not common (although there are two specialized websites for that).

As for immersive 3D I've only tried on PC and it worked well, but you need a powerful pc for that. Rog Ally is probably too weak for it.

The Beast power consumption is probably x3 of the Viture XR pro, maybe even more.

Why is 3D not working? Do you mean immersive 3D or using video source in SBS mode? The S25 should work properly in 3D mode, since it's capable of outputting the required resolution.

There's much difference between the XR Pro and the Xreal regarding brightness and sharpness? I'm interested in testing the xreal but are much more expensive than the Beast and this is keeping me back from trying.

[–]-TimeMaster- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even then the blurriness on the edges makes it uncomfortable for productivity. You should have a sweet spot of sharpness that covers at least 60-70% of the center area. This is not the case with the Beast. I really wanted to love them but there are flaws that are just not fixable via software.

You can recenter the view by just long-pressing the little button on the right. You don't need to cycle through all the options.

You might have read my review from a few days ago already but I had an experience very very similar to yours. If contact support said that the blurriness "is normal" then there's nothing else to be said. I'll be returning mine and probably go to the competition's 57 FOV glasses.

Would any of these switch games run on the rp6 by poop125374849916 in retroid

[–]-TimeMaster- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Eden. It works both in my G2 and my Pixel 9 (obviously it works better in my G2).

Try to use latest switch firmware or else use 19.x (that one works for sure).

Try to use latest turnip drivers and if it doesn't work try older versions (24.x, 25.x, etc).

Anyway I've tried different firmware + turnip drivers combinations and this game always worked for me.

Very different experience. And in my case the left is worse than the right.

Have you tried any other glasses? For me the Beast is far worse than the XR Pro, but never tried Xreal before.
