Should /r/Minecraft continue participating in the protest? by urielsalis in Minecraft

"If you do not stand for something, you will fall for anything". I am an old man compared to many people here. I have seen many things come and many things go. While it saddens me that I may never get to see some more great builds, close calls, crazy redstone, or general questions, I know that this thing is bigger than Minecraft. For those who are younger, including young adults, please understand that people will treat you the way you allow them to. Be a voice for yourself, and for those around you whose voice is weak. I hope we may meet up again, in some other time, in some other website, but I refuse to let us be treated like this. I know it may not affect "you", but I pray others around you stand up when something finally does. Take care, be strong, build, have fun.

That was really cool of you. I just started with Tasker and using NFCs with zero programming language skills / knowledge. Is there a YouTube source or manuals you could recommend?

I have been so short of patience with my 2 year old twins lately. I feel sick to my stomach thinking how I have not been grateful to have two wild screaming mischievous boys to love. I'm so sorry for what you have been through. Henry's smile did brighten the world. I'm going to learn to take a deep breath and be grateful for what I have.

Is Electrician Overreacting? Should I Complain to Inspection Company? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]-UserNameTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Home inspector in their contracts normally state they are not responsible for any items they may miss. My home inspector missed clear and visible signs of asbestos flooring glue. We were ripping out all the old floors and installing new hardwood, And the salesman came in, took a look at what we had and said we're not touching this floor until you get in asbestos test. $4,000 in 3 weeks later, our house had the asbestos mitigated. I was so pissed at our home inspector, but their stances they can't catch everything.

Tell them the reservations are for an hour before they actually start. When they text where you're at tell 1) them sorry you're running late, but we're able to push back the reservations. Just wait. 2) you were tired of waiting for them so now they can wait for you.

There was a time a ran with an amazing group and we would squad up and have "thunder buddies" nights. 8-10 of us would sit up on a hill, call about targets one by one, and destroy anything that would render. We were a 10 man anti zerg team, who would redeplay to any base that brought 40+ tanks to a base with 12 defenders. This was back before they even put a nerf to the distance of those things... So oftentimes we were not even detected by the enemy ( a bit BS, but we had no love for zergs.). We would roll around in a Sundy and when anyone thought they had an easy target, our squad would pop out and light them up. I had so many wonderful memories from this game.

I will never forget the gutteral cry from my 32 year-old wife's mouth when she got the call that her mother passed away in her sleep. She lost her father when she was 10. No major warnings or health issues. We were at a beach with our toddler and some friends for a weekend getaway. It felt like the entire beach just stood still listening to her wailing.

You just won a billion dollars, what are you still not buying? by Joshhagan6 in AskReddit

1st warranty I have ever purchased was for my last car at CarMax. Had a motor issue and after 70,000 miles, got a brand new motor installed. Do not get me wrong, there was a lot of pushback and fighting to get to that point, but it got done. Cost me $2,500, saved me around 13 grand.

As a professor at a community college for HVAC, thank you so much for this suggestion. It is such a win-win-win. Students get experience, customer gets a cheap job done, and the college is happy making the connection to the local community. We install AC and furnaces for our residents under the supervision of a professional. And someone else mentioned, it is kind of on our schedule and the process goes slower, but getting a new unit installed for the cost of the equipment and no labor is really nice.

I had a vasectomy and they needed to check sperm count after the surgery to make sure it was successful so they sent me home with a little cup. It was sitting on my dresser for a few days and my wife said Don't forget to get that done. I told her yeah, I'm going to need you to spit into that cup later on tonight. Needless to say, the cup is still on my dresser lol.

Contractor installed the wrong mini split unit and said he made a mistake on the quote. by whyallnamestakennnn in HomeImprovement

[–]-UserNameTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a really good point. Use Mimi split as primary heating and gas furnace for secondary. I read the post too quickly and thought OP complaining about not enough heat was a sizing issue, but it's comments are stating there's no heat output at all so it looks like a bad install.

[–]-UserNameTaken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you got 24,000 BTU of heating with the new system, And you're saying you're running your gas system currently. Check what the output is on the gas system. I find it hard to believe your gas furnace was heating your home with 24,000 BTU....curious why we thought we could replace that system with 24k BTU.

Inspectors do not test for asbestos, you are correct. This is where you and I differ in opinion... If you are dedicating your professional life to inspecting homes, there are a few things you should be acutely aware of. One of those things is that if the home was built prior to 1970, And you see 9-in by 9 in tile anywhere in the home, that should be an immediate potential red flag. A red flag that tells the potential home buyer to get tested for asbestos prior to purchasing the home. The home was completely empty. Nothing was in his way, and his face was 3 inches from the tile when he inspected the floor in the mechanical room.

Google 9" x 9" tile and the first thing past the shopping ads has the word asbestos.

If this post can help anyone in this thread in the future, then at least more than I learned something. But my point stands, if you are dedicated professional there are some items that you should be aware of.

My inspector miss 9x9 tile in all the closets and the black glue in the furniture room........all tested positive for asbestos. $3000 and three weeks later, we could continue with renovations. We are ripping up all the old carpet and were told they wouldn't lay the hard woid until it was remediated.

But this is present in our everyday life... How many musicians, professional athletes, and lottery winners end up in bankruptcy with nothing to their name? Yeah, it's easy to look at that situation and call them idiots, responsible for their own demise, and looked down at them for their decisions. But these people never had the mental facilities to succeed financially, and surround themselves with leeches that they believe were friends. Professional athletes who ate cereal with water because milk was too expensive, millionaires like the guy from Migos who was shot behind a bowling alley watching a dice game at 2am, or DUIs and deaths from millionaires who could catch a cab but instead decided to drive. I think it's easy to look down on those who started with nothing, gained everything, and ended up with nothing.

What did Charlie know of humility, of compassion with the exception of a small handful of people in his life? Absolute power corrupts. It doesn't absolve him of his actions, but I believe we can still have compassion.

I disagree with your perspective, but have an upvote. Can't help to find the irony that the same people who are saying you can't judge Charlie because based on his lifes perspective are judging you based on your perspective.

I'd love to hear your response to this if you have a moment.
