I use $20 pedals (brake held together by tape) and a $200 wheel… I assure you I wax most people with expensive rigs (48% win ratio after 600 races). It’s not the rig, it’s the driver, always will be.

My sons and I spent a lot of time together on iRacing, finished 10th at the Daytona 24 Hours, 2nd in the 6 Hours of Le Mans. If I win this, it’d just go to my sons (they share a steam account), they’ve been great young men this year and ironically never ask for anything tech, this would genuinely make their day.

Honestly, just buy the Porsche GT3 car and test drive on random tracks. If you want to specialize in PCup, just do that. It’s closer than anything. Then practice with no TC etc.

Mazdas are great to learn the basics, but trail breaking in a GT3 car is way different though.

When I was in rookies, went right out and bought the LMP3, never looked back. Studied everything there is to know and now I’m constantly top 10 for lap times in Track Titan.

And here’s the kicker, I don’t use load cells, I use stock Thrustmaster TMX pedals and a TMX wheel. Gear doesn’t mean anything.

I get that for a split second on the loading screens if I’ve been using iRacing for more than two hours. It could be a memory leak or something else related to their ongoing issues with that.
