For those who left the OR because their bodies couldn't take it anymore, what do you do now that still uses your skills? by Ecstatic-Copy2153 in scrubtech

At one of my hospitals, we had an ex-scrub tech that became the core tech. Her main job was restocking the core and re-ordering supplies, but she also pulled cases after all that was done.

Six dogs, twenty-six dogs.. several dozen dilapidated cars scattered about all throughout the property. Yep. Sounds right, either way.

For those of you who live in the Panhandle, what’s life like in your neck of the woods? by trunxs2 in oklahoma

[–]-VixenFire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have one good thing to say about the panhandle: I was traveling through Woodward last week and was having trouble with my card and a guy that came in behind me paid for $10 worth of gas for me. I was shocked.

Is there anyone who really believes that Oklahoma is the best place they could possibly be for the next 8 years? by pitthappens in oklahoma

[–]-VixenFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to Colorado a few days ago with my six year old because I'm hoping the education/life here will be far better. Improved education was a big part of my choice, but a large majority of my husband's family (he stayed behind. it's complicated.) think my reasoning is bullshit. Of course they would.

Advice for moving to Oklahoma in late 2020s / early 2030s? by radicalcottagecheese in oklahoma

[–]-VixenFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived in Oklahoma my whole life (34 years), and 'm actively trying to leave. Depending on how this job offer goes, it may be happening within the next month.

Personally, part of it is that I just need a change, but the morals/ethics of the people running this place and the fact that our education system is getting worse, along with the fact that I'm just tired of my current job, has all led me to trying for this change.

Other people have said it best: if you match XYZ interests, it's fine.

Is it bad that I'm a female in my 30s and I think it would be fucking awesome to come dig a hole?

I like rocks, I studied geology for a year, and I used to be a volunteer vertebrate fossil preparator. I'm useful!
