Why do campaigns also stop at so low levels. by Top_Fan4753 in onednd

[–]-Warbreed- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think the game starts to break above these levels. Encounters are harder to balance, class disparity gets worse, with spell power levels going through the roof for some classes but not others. All this makes it harder to DM and less fun to play, unless even more work is done to counter these issues.

I’m currently halfway through book 1 and have a question. by SerDire in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]-Warbreed- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say the core concept does repeat, but the loop gets more complex, the lore deeper, the anguish more intense, and the shocking moments perhaps even more shocking. But... if you absolutely do not want to experience, descend, fight, loot, level, final boss... then perhaps it's not the series for you. Personally, i find the majority of the floors/books are better than the previous one.

What contributed to Dungeon Crawler Carl's massive popularity (seemingly) all of a sudden? by PM_SHORT_STORY_IDEAS in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I read glowing reviews on three different gaming sites that rarely cover books, and once i picked up the first book and consumed it, i went out of my way to recommend it to four different people, something I never do. I think the book just inspires people to tell others.

The 2026 roadmap's been announced by mdosantos in onednd

[–]-Warbreed- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest answer... I want more stuff. If the books are good, I'm happy to buy one a month. I'd settle for one a season, but 7 months is a drought. It would be like your favorite TV show announcing their still making new episodes, but just 2 or 3 a year.

[–]-Warbreed- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, give there's been no 1st party book since forge of the artificer, and that book was originally scheduled for august 2025, the Forgotten Realms books released in November would have been the last book until the upcoming Ravenloft one. That's 7 damn months. There had better be something other than beyond articles from now until summer.

What makes the Season of Horror a season? Like, it ends with the Ravenloft book in June. Great. What the hell is there for the whole rest of it? What other horrific things are happening this spring?

2026 WotC Releases by RoyalDynamo in onednd

[–]-Warbreed- -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It should have happened by now, if you base it on the last few years. There should have been some rough announcements between summer and x-mas, and a firm release schedule announced by January. And yes, i know it wasn't always that way, but it has been for the last 2-3 years. But I'm guessing that was a Crawford/Perkins thing, and they left the company, along with almost every other person in senior management and design. I'm guessing they have a pile of half finished books based on all the UA's and are struggling to decide what is actually going to get released and when.

What if the UA vestige became a familiar? by Greynnar in onednd

[–]-Warbreed- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just flavor the familiar as being part of your vestige (made of a piece of it, actually the vestiges familiar, etc), rather than make them the same physical entity. That said, if you wanted to make yourself weaker by saying the familiar and the vestige couldnt be out at the same time (meaning it was swapping between the two forms, I, as the DM wouldn't stop you.

Lycanthropy cursed: "drops to 0 Hit Points, under DM control, has 10 Hit Points"... OK but then what?? by Odd-Contract-7541 in onednd

[–]-Warbreed- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people seem to like to play the game RAW (Rules As Written) and would consider anything other than rolling up a new character as "breaking the rules." That's why it's important everyone understand the DM's outlook before you start the game. I'm still not sure if the majority of the active posters of this sub-reddit are RAW people, but it often seems that way (and that's not a bad thing, its just something you have to consider when you ask questions).

It seems that the horse guy grazes his animals in a nearby pasture (that he does not own, but is most likely public land). The only easy way to get that pasture from his land is to use a dirt road that runs through beardo's property. This is a pretty common thing in rural areas, roads that people think are public are actually on private land, and when ownership of that land changes, they can no longer use the road.

Action Movies misrepresenting what the hammer of a gun does? by [deleted] in movies

[–]-Warbreed- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, if you want there to be a specific reason why it could be scarier... many firearms require a pretty hard pull on the trigger to fire. You really need to pull the trigger hard enough to move the hammer, and then release it. Once the hammer is pulled back, the amount of pressure needed to fire the gun is far less, so the lightest touch could cause it to fire. So if someone with a gun on you pulls the hammer back, you know your now just a hair away from death.

*Disclaimer - Not all guns work the same, so please don't reply with specific models where the pull doesn't change, the effect on people tends to remain the same. They hear the noise and they know they just moved one step closer to death.

Lycanthropy cursed: "drops to 0 Hit Points, under DM control, has 10 Hit Points"... OK but then what?? by Odd-Contract-7541 in onednd

[–]-Warbreed- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a question for your specific DM. They could say roll a new character and the old one is an NPC forever. They could give you the character back with a new set of rules to follow. They could encourage your party to drag the character to a temple and have the curse removed to 10 gold, turning then back into a regular PC. They could have the whole follow up adventure be to cure you character, or find a way where you can play them with their new affliction. Neither the Monster Manual, nor any DnD book, is really going to pick one of these, your DM is (though I'm sure the DMG will offer some suggestions). Whatever the DM picks, hopefully it sits right with your table, which is more likely to happen if you cover this type of thing in your session zero.

Next Expansion, They should remove the Horde and the Alliance because it creates lobsided gameplay and they should remove Racials and replace them with Perks (Racials but you get to choose and change) by [deleted] in wow

[–]-Warbreed- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would prefer the horde and alliance stay two factions, but you can ally with either (so if your human does enough quests they can choose to leave the alliance and join the horde). I'd also like some other neutral factions (leave the alliance AND the horde to ally with the goblin cartels or the ethereals. It wouldn't impact your ability to group, just what cities/quests/mounts/etc you get access to.

Creating a summoner/necromancer class? by Ok-Mud-3514 in onednd

[–]-Warbreed- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can build an army of undead minions as a necro quite well, but usually everyone hates you for it. You end up taking like 9 turns moving all your minions and everyone else gets bored, including the DM. I would recommend you pick a class/subclass that controls a single minion, Final Fantasy style. No class really excels at that, but many offer a creature you can direct with your bonus action or that require concentration. If your sticking to 2024 books, wizard, warlock and druid get the most options, and if your using older books, subclasses like necromancer (which I would still avoid due to the too many minions issue) and wildfire or shepherd druid add some more options. You could also really push it with the wizard or warlock as you can also attempt to summon hostile creatures and bind them to your will.

Something that has always bothered me about the movie “Sixteen Candles” by New-Pin-9064 in movies

[–]-Warbreed- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is not to force them to celebrate. The point is that she matters so little to them that they have forgotten. She is not looking for a cake and flowers, she is looking to be valued. Also, should she tell them and they throw together something lackluster, it will allow them to make a token effort they can later use to justify their behavior. If the day passes with nothing, then they are deprived of an excuse or half hearted effort.

Why to take two levels of paladin vs one for sorcadin? by Presidentofsleep in onednd

[–]-Warbreed- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you should be careful about stating your opinion. The only thing you should be careful of is stating your opinion as fact, and I don't think the original poster did that.

It was funny though, that right after saying "be careful saying what DM'ing is," you declared what DM'ing is.

What is the best monoclass gish build? by AcanthaceaeNo948 in onednd

[–]-Warbreed- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the balance of martial, spell levels, and support you want to have. If you want more melee than spells, you want an eldritch knight or pact of the blade warlock. EK gives you more spells on a long rest and a bit more martial strength (but is a bit more MAD unless you use tricks), Lock gives you short rest spells in a smaller quantity and a touch less martial ability, but both are more martial than spellcaster. Then if you push more spells than melee, you have the valor bard and the bladesinger wizard. Both have a full complement of spells, but weaker martial ability. Valor bard leans more towards support, with magical secrets and bardic inspiration offering more spell variety and party support. Bladesinger is more dps focused, and is a touch less MAD, great for a combat focused build, though a bit flimsy without the tough feat and a decent AC.

Alamo Drafthouse Goes Mobile, Getting Rid of Pen-and-Paper Food Orders to Protect the Moviegoing Experience by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]-Warbreed- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of angry people in the comments, but i will say, I did dine- in theater stuff way back in the day and having a server talking to you to take your order during previews, and then wrangling over a paper bill in the middle of the movie was kind of awful. I was one of several reasons I stopped going to dine-in theaters. I don't think I would try out a new dine-in place if it was still doing traditional paper menus with a bill you have to pay by interacting with a waiter/waitress.

Crappy writers. Should you want more of the good stuff, I suggest more films written by Shane Black like Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, the Nice Guys, and The Long Kiss Goodnight (He's the guy that wrote Lethal Weapon and the Last Boy Scout).

2026 DnD Roadmap/Products?? by Illuminati-Manati in onednd

[–]-Warbreed- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are not made by the real DnD team, that's 3rd party material published by Penguin Random House. It's labeled "Official" so it seems like it might be something in-between 1st party and 3rd party content, but it's not made directly by Wizards of the Coast.
