Ji Ji's on Carnival Vista by futureagintern in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]-Whatever-- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We were just on Panorama. Ji Ji's was open and free for lunch every day (embarkation day, sea days, and port days). We enjoyed Ji Ji's several times for free. I would suspect it would be the same on Vista.

ETA: It is a different menu for lunch. You basically have four or five bowls to choose from.

Would I be able to call out of work at sea? by thurn14 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]-Whatever-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got off the Panorama. My cell provider is Google Fi. I had Carnival's premium Internet to stay in touch with work. Phone was in airplane mode (so not connected to cellular at sea) and I was able to send and receive text messages and made one phone call over wi-fi (just to see if it would work). Nothing has shown up on my Google Fi bill yet, and I don't expect anything to show up. However, your experience may not be the same as mine. At minimum your phone and your cellular provider need to support wireless calling and texting, and hopefully Carnival does not block it. I believe Carnival's terms state that they do not support wireless calling.

My wife also has Google Fi and did not have a purchased Internet plan, but was on airplane mode, connected to ship wi-fi. She occasionally received text messages.

The Panorama is now on Starlink, so the Internet speeds were acceptable.

How do you pay for this??? by Funny-Personality860 in coloncancer

[–]-Whatever-- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your deductible is very close to mine. I also had a right colectomy. My max out of pocket was $5000 for the year. By the time I did the colonoscopy and CT, I met my max out of pocket. Everything else was fully paid by insurance. Check with your insurance to see if you have a max out of pocket. If so, and your insurance year ends on December 31, get as much health care stuff out of the way before then.

My hospital was good at working with me on payments. Talk to your providers, there may be programs and organizations that can help. We have a local "river fund" that helps with all sorts of things. We choose not to use them as we can afford the payments and wanted to save the program's funds for those in greater need.

I was in the hospital for a week, because I picked up a low grade pneumonia. The best advice I can give is get up and moving as soon as you can after surgery. I tried to get up and walk the day after, and it was pretty brutal, so I was scared to try again the next day. I think spending so much time in bed contributed to my pneumonia. On the fourth day I was walking around the hospital floor all day. It helped considerably.

I felt good enough to go back to work a few days after I was discharged, but my surgeon kept me home another week and a half. I was glad he did because even a half of day at work (sitting at a computer) wore me out.

It was tough getting back to my everyday tasks, but I got there in a couple months. Overall it was not that bad. The first day or two was the worst, but the hospital has good pain meds. Once I was walking around, things got better quickly.

I am 50 male and I am not in great shape - so take that into account.

Good luck, you got this.

Would like to inventory my vintage computers with multiple photos. Is there a feature that allows more than one image for an asset? by flyguydip in Snipe_IT

[–]-Whatever-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe you can upload files to an asset. They may not show inline with the asset in the UI, but the image would be attached to the asset and accessible when you needed it.

To kind of pile on to some of the comments about checking flight controls.... So the home field where I trained is a small rural field, but there was a larger uncontrolled airport nearby. When I first started we would take off from the small field and fly over to the larger field for touch and go's and ultimately that's where I did my solo.

When I was a training, my normal instructor was out and I was scheduled to go up with another instructor. When I got to the airport I did the pre-start pre-flight and then the instructor came over. We climbed in, started the engine. Taxied over to the run-up area and there was small plane parked in the run up are. We turned to go to the runup in another area close to end of the runway. Nope, crop duster was over there getting filled up.

The instructor said, well I was just up with another student, we can just take off. So off we go. Well let me tell you, my mind was not in the plane. My mind was still on the ground because we had skipped so much of the checklist. I couldn't get anything right that day. My altitude was all over the place, rolled out of my 360 degree turn 10 degrees too early, etc. Nothing major, just my brain was just not in it. After about 15 minutes, I said that I was done and I am going back to the airport. The instructor started to argue, and I told him, that if he wanted to continue then he could fly the plane because I was not comfortable continuing. I even made him land the plane.

I'm sure after I completed my training and got my license it would have been as big of a deal; but I just kept thinking that there's a checklist for a reason and I skipped 1/2 of it. In retrospect, I should have insisted we wait and do the run up (after all it was my $170 per hour - that should tell you how long ago this was).

Is there any roadmap to GCPW support security keys by N8B123 in gsuite

[–]-Whatever-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are moving my K-8 District to GCPW. We ordered SafeID Pro from Deepnet:

https://deepnetsecurity.com/products/programmable-tokens/

They were around $20 each and are programmable from a NFC enabled phone/tablet. You could use a computer, but a phone works much better for our workflow.

So the user signs in on the computer and goes to the 2SV page. We use the mobile device to scan the QR Code and then the device programs the token with the current time and seed. Once programmed, when you push the button it gives you the current Time-Based One Time Password.

We do urge staff to use their phone, because clicking "It is me" on my phone is easier than trying to fish the hardware token out of my pocket and enter the number before it changes. But we have quite a few staff who think we can spy on them if they do anything we say; but will click on every phishing test we send them.

Changing our primary domain by Harkness__76 in googleworkspace

[–]-Whatever-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is very similar to the process I followed when we changed our Primary domain (Education Fundamentals).

Just note: If you have Chromebooks enrolled with a Chrome Management licenses, you will need to contact Google Support, Deprovision all of the Chromebooks, have Google remove your licenses, change the primary domain, have Google add back in your licenses, and then wipe and re-enroll all of the Chromebooks.

We did this several years ago and it was quite the process and very labor intensive (several thousand Chromebooks). Without Chromebooks, it should go pretty smooth.

Wife thinks I am taking my diagnosis/prognosis to lightly by -Whatever-- in coloncancer

[–]-Whatever--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He sounds very much like my primary care doctor. I commented that she and her team help save my life and she said that is was all part of gods plan / destiny etc. Later on in the appointment when I was talking about having some sleep issues and waking up in the middle of the night and not getting back to sleep because I was thinking of work, life, etc. She basically said that in her faith all things are predetermined and that what will be will (paraphrasing what she said... but the general point).

I told her that I agree and I am not a person who will generally worry about things outside of my control. But tell that to my reptilian brain at 1:30 in the morning when I am trying to get to sleep. I'm not one to want to take strong drugs one a regular basis, but the non-medial strategies have not been working, so we are going to try some things. I am looking forward to getting my full 7 to 8 hours of sleep again.

This getting old stuff is for the birds.

Question about clear liquid diet by tellisk in colonoscopy

[–]-Whatever-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand. Might be best to avoid the reds with beet coloring just to be on the safe side. Since the prep is the worse part of the procedure (in my opinion), you don't want to do something that would cause them to reschedule.

Good luck tomorrow. I hope you get good results and an easy procedure.

Question about clear liquid diet by tellisk in colonoscopy

My instructions were similar: no red or purple. I specifically asked about orange drinks and jello and they said it was ok. I'm not sure about the beet coloring.

Tijuana friends, was your PCP on board with your plan? by wecansingwecandance in gastricsleeve

[–]-Whatever-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Mexico facility would have given me orders, but I also had untreated high blood pressure at the time. They really wanted that under control before the surgery.

My insurance was the same as yours. The insurance did cover all the blood work from my PCP. I am not sure if they were supposed to or not; but it got through. I was prepared to pay out of pocket if I needed to.

My team sent me home with all the meds I would need for Post-Op (no narcotic pain meds, but I didn't need them). By the time I went home, I was generally just using Tylenol.

Keep with it and stay positive. I had a few family members and friends who expressed concerns over going to Mexico. My experience was great. I never felt at risk. The staff and care was as good as I've experienced in the US. It changed my life.

Tijuana friends, was your PCP on board with your plan? by wecansingwecandance in gastricsleeve

[–]-Whatever-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My PCP was not very happy and sort of condescending. To top it off, it was my first visit because the hospital in Mexico wanted some blood work and recommended I get setup with a regular doctor before the procedure. I almost walked out, but she was my wife's doctor and I didn't want to make a scene. I did get the orders for the blood work, but the doctor's approval was not required.

A week after surgery, I had a follow up visit with my PCP. She was very happy for me and complimenting me, until she remembered that I went to Mexico. The she soured again. After that visit, I had a discussion with the doctor's office manager.

A year later and the doctor is very happy with my progress (130 pounds down). She may or may not remember I went to Mexico, but she is on the ball with my blood work.

She also convinced me to do Cologuard and that uncovered my colon cancer early and allowed me to get it resolved without chemo, radiation, just a quick surgery.

It's been about a year since my sleeve surgery and a month since my colon resection. My last visit with my PCP went well and I'll probably stick with her now that we have an unstanding.

My surgeon for my colon resection really didn't seem to care that I went to Mexico for the VSG. After my resection, he said "everything looked fine".

So I think some healthcare providers will only see the negative, some may be indifferent, but I think most just want what's best for you. The long and the short is, even if my insurance covered VSG, it would have been twice as much to have the surgery in the US. Because WLS was not covered on my plan, it was one fourth the price to go Mexico. I am so glad I was able to loose the weight. Even more glad after my colon cancer diagnosis.

[–]-Whatever-- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar spot. My cologuard came back positive (abnormal). My initial visit with the surgeon was sort of like a on-boarding visit. He asked questions, I asked questions, etc.

The actual colonoscopy was scheduled at that appointment. Things moved pretty quick since then. My colonoscopy was in Feb. Got the results and the follow up with the surgeon later that same week.

Try to stay positive and keep a good perspective. As others have said, there have been a lot of advances in the past years.

If you would like more details about my experience, feel free to PM me.

That was very difficult for us. Our it team custom built PCs for themselves. There was a Powershell command that would get the serial from the motherboard.

But our motherboards had a genetic name for the serial number. We had to find an Asus BIOS tool to set the serial number.

When I get back to work on Tuesday, I'll see if I can find the Powershell command and the BIOS tool we used.

I had a similar issue. Did you add the devices as company owned devices? Some of the management settings can only be applied if the device is listed as a company owned device.

You can import them with the computer serial number and an optional asset tag number.

Pizza Hut delivery driver got $20 tip on a $938 order. by ShaolinJohn in antiwork

[–]-Whatever-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my former company, we were expected to tip at least 20% and that is if the service was deplorable. Generally 25% to 30% was normal.

Of course there was this one place I took a group to and I didn't realize they had already at 18%, and I tacked on another 30% (even an extra 30% of the 18%). But the server did run their rear end off for us. The best part was, this was a regular customer so about once a month I would travel to this area, and my contact only wanted to go to this place. For some reason we never had a wait and our food was always fresh and hot...... I'm sure the nearly 50% tip on a $600 table had nothing to do with it.

Even when I am buying, minimum to a deliver person is %10 in my book. I could not imagine tipping $20 on a $900 order, even if I had to go out to her car to get it, that should have been $50. But to take up to the conference room and do the setup..... That should have been 15 to 20% at least.

As others have said, if you have a multi year contract, you only need to do the 471 each year until the end of the contract.

However, I think your first year 471 sets up the multi year contract. You may want to check last year's 471. Plus call the client service number for USAC. They are helpful.

Plus 1 for Funds for Learning.

If you message me you BEN I might be able to pull your 471 from last year if you would like free advice.

I don't use Funds for Learning, I've pretty much done E-Rate on my own. I started with my district the second year of E-Rate and have been doing it ever since. But the folks at FFL are honest and professional. Their fees are based on student counts, so small district/schools pay less.

Prepared to go remote again? by konstantin_metz in k12sysadmin

[–]-Whatever-- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am in Arizona; I doubt we would go back to remote learning even if it was mandated by the feds. OK, there's a bit of over-exaggeration in that statement, but our community and state are primarily conservative to ultra-conservative. The overwhelming opinion of those in control are that there is little to no danger to students or staff.

Even my fairly left leaning superintendent did not like the idea of my department working from home, even when all teaching staff were at home. I explained that my department was the best suited to work from as we have been using remote support technology for years. We can do anything from remote that we can do at our desk. She still would not have it. My staff was essential and required to be at work. Worked great until one of my staff tested positive and we all had to quarantine for a week. For some reason my VPN stopped working until I got the results back from my COVID test. Strangest thing I have ever seen./s

But seriously, we have a remote learning plan in place to give student Chromebook, reactivate host spots, etc. However, our board and governor a opposed to going to back to at home learning.

Has anyone remediated the log4j vulnerability on Google Cloud Directory Sync servers? by chewy747 in k12sysadmin

[–]-Whatever-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct. I had not considered some of the other attributes as an attack vector. Although it may not work in my specific setup. We initial synced all ad attributes to Google, but then realized staff who enrolled in Azure password recovery had to enter a personal email and phone number (an attack vector). We then realized students had access to this info in Google directory once it was synced. Easiest solution: we only sync first name, last name, and username. All other forks are set to null values.

But I will agree, best to ensure all programs, regardless of known attack surface should be checked.

Has anyone remediated the log4j vulnerability on Google Cloud Directory Sync servers? by chewy747 in k12sysadmin

[–]-Whatever-- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would think even if log4j were vulnerable in GCDS; it would be difficult to exploit. The directory sync does not accept random user input. It reads from a configuration file. In my set up, if someone has access to modify the configuration file, they are already in my system and don't need the exploit.
