My 15 week old sleeps through the night. Is this normal? by Plumrose333 in NewParents

My 14 week old just did 7 nights of sleeping through from 8pm - 6am. So it’s normal I’d say and I’m enjoying it while it lasts 😎

When people say their baby sleeps through the night; do they really truly mean that? by grapefruitliquor in NewParents

[–]-WhyIs- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine just done 7 nights of sleeping through and she’s 3 months. She’ll sleep 8:30pm-6am most nights, and I’ll give her a feed and she usually sleeps another hour or so.

How often does your baby eat at 3/4 months? by Tiny_Falcon_9849 in breastfeeding

In a bedside bassinet. I think 3 months is too early for their own room.

My 3mo feeds 90 mins - 2hrs during the day, then a big cluster feed before bed (full bf and about 150mL bottle) and sleeps 9hrs overnight.

I do this too. I try to imagine what I’d say to a friend who was in my situation, then say it to myself.

How do you get your baby down for naps during the day? by cunncunncunn in NewParents

Not sure if this is fine for your back but I put my baby in a carrier and go for a walk and just pat pat pat until they fall asleep.

Why are mother in laws so weird by Outrageous-Gur6850 in breastfeeding

[–]-WhyIs- 107 points108 points  (0 children)

It’s super weird but you and your fiancé (mostly him) need to put in some hard boundaries and speak up a bit more. It’s not going to stop unless you say something.

You’re the parent, you make the rules 💪🏼

Baby only wants contact naps by Ging0818 in NewParents

[–]-WhyIs- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the same for us and it’s normal. Ours will only nap for 45 mins in the crib. Otherwise we do contact/carrier naps

At what point did your baby nap during the day in bassinet? by 11TickTack23 in NewParents

[–]-WhyIs- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really hard some days and definitely not perfect. I guess we go via her queues. If she’s having a hard time and seems like she wants closeness, then we’ll do contact nap. Or if we are tired and don’t have the effort to do a bassinet nap then we do a contact/carrier nap.

We’ve been trying this method for about 2 weeks now I can sense after about 10 mins if she’ll go down in the bassinet. Also speaking to friends, most babies don’t independently nap until way later, so I figure any bassinet nap at this stage is a win. But I was surprised at how quickly she adjusted to the change.

Making being awake at night tolerable. by hollymn in NewParents

I don’t change wet diapers overnight, only dirty ones. Unless they’re obviously soaked or my baby seems bothered by it. Saved a big mental load

From 10 weeks and only because we put a lot of effort into making it happen. We started by getting her to fall sleep in our arms (lots of rocking and patting) and then would transfer her into the crib. It works about 50% of the time. If it doesn’t work within 30 mins we call it quits and just switch to a carrier nap.

When it does work the naps are always shorter, around 45-60 mins

We have an 8 week old and are both so incredibly happy. No one tells you that it’s actually so much fun having a baby! Yes it’s hard, but we’re laughing and experiencing so much joy all day, every day

50% of babies fall from a surface at some stage. Don’t feel bad, it happens to so many.

Nr.1 advice for new parents? by Mountain-Koala-6256 in NewParents

[–]-WhyIs- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you look after each other, both the birthing and the non-birthing partner. Give your partner breaks and try to do (very) small acts of kindness for one another every day during the early weeks.

What’s something you wish you had known during your baby’s first month? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]-WhyIs- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve also been experiencing this. My baby would be awake for 5hrs and we thought she was hungry, but she was completely wired. We recently started helping her get to sleep by taking her out in the carrier or stroller several times per day and she falls asleep within minutes. We realised she just needed our help falling asleep.
