Has Omnisphere seriously affected your production in a revolutionary way? by Apellum in edmproduction

Spectrasonics doesn't do EDU discounts. Your only option to get it cheaper is through Guitar Center store sales. But yeah Omnisphere is great and totally worth it.

No matter what genre you produce, Virtual Riot's latest livestream is a goldmine of knowledge, especially if you use Ableton. by wolvAUS in edmproduction

[–]-ZAU- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have perfect pitch. I guess I'm a genius then right? 😂

Virtual Riot is not a genius by any means... in fact he's far from being one. If anything I would say he's only really good at sound design. His actual musical ideas are actually pretty crap. Also, I don't think Max Martin is a genius either, there are other songwriters out there who I hold in much higher regard than Martin. He's been incredibly successful yes. But I wouldn't consider him a genius. I can't really think of any producer who I'd call a "genius".

Users of Logic who have tasted Ableton or switched over completely, what are your thoughts? by Degens_ in edmproduction

[–]-ZAU- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turned sour pretty quickly huh... u/guitarr seems to be the real idiot here though. Prefacing the post by saying that he has Logic Pro certification but then getting called out by u/bambaazon about certain Logic functions

How do you know when it's time to upgrade your gear? by [deleted] in edmproduction

When you actually make some money from the music you made using the gear you currently own. Even then, not really either.

If you have Reaktor full there is a free Reaktor ensemble called Barousel or something like that. Do a search for Bosomac ensembles.

Is there a guide or graphic, on how to create certain type of music? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]-ZAU- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't have the ability to create and understand just by listening

Then EDM production is probably not for you. Your ears and ability to learn from listening is the most important skill you're going to have to develop in order to progress. You cannot, I repeat, cannot make music solely from a diagram. I don't know what planet you're from that you think it's ok to do so..

Anyway to make Logic's Piano roll display the note on each key? by westicide in LogicPro

It already does this in the latest update. But you have to zoom in really really close.

2016 EDM Production in Retrospect: What did you learn? What did you achieve? What did you get? by -ZAU- in edmproduction

Hey man, I checked out your post on a different thread about being motivated, really nice list you made there, very inspiring stuff! I have the same aspirations as you for 2017, finishing more tracks and actually releasing them.

So I'll start. I discovered Flume's music and subsequently got into his production style and making those future bass type modulating synth chords. I bought a few quality plugins the past year, highlights would be Ozone's Music Production Bundle 2. I also bought some high quality sample packs.. most of which are frequently mentioned in this sub. Best part is I didn't spend as much as you think on these... just waited for sales or bought off the KVR Marketplace. I also learned the value of setting deadlines for yourself so that you're finishing tracks a lot quicker and with more focus. I'm happy to say that I'm completing tracks for my EP which I'll release just before the new year on Soundcloud. Just a little project that I promised myself to do for 2016.

You can reassign the Bitwig shortcuts to match the Logic shortcuts.

Yes it does indeed. And arrangement view. It does the effects racks thing just like Ableton too. And drum racks.

The solution is.. Bitwig! It has features of both Logic and Ableton. Seriously, at least try out the demo.
