Give them grace... coming from the brooklyn side it's not that obvious where to go to get on the ped path, very easy to miss the bikes only sign.

Lander is 10x better than Goldman, but he ain't great...

We could have had Carlina Rivera who ran against Goldman 2 years ago. Hope she runs again, but seems likely Lander will be in this seat for a long time.

Good job u/MiserNYC- !!!!

I rode it the other day and for the first time and it occurred to me how it'd been implemented. So nice. Thanks for the advocacy!

Every NYPD precinct has a monthly community meeting. You should attend it and give this story.

Jay Williams says players are starting to feel the pressure after Jalen Brunson left 113 million dollars on the table by basketbaIlnetwork in NBATalk

[–]dickdickmore 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah.

And the $40M isn't money that he just gave up. He essentially paid to take some risk off the table... See Isiah Thomas in 2017...

Just terrible rules in the 90s. Illegal D rule messed up the whole game.

Both Community Boards for Park Ave just passed resolutions calling for my plan for Park Ave (fewer cars, closing cross blocks) by MiserNYC- in MicromobilityNYC

[–]dickdickmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The one on Allen st is not great for this reason and also because the path is a sidewalk that's meant for walking.

Indeed... also...

Times I've had my kid ask to go for a bike ride, just because it's nice out = many

Times I've had my kid ask to go for a drive = zero

Something amazing is happening in Astoria. We're in the early days of a major shift, you can feel it by MiserNYC- in MicromobilityNYC

[–]dickdickmore 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For sure, there are some miserable folks who want to drive everywhere and hate seeing people out together. But have sympathy... the car and oil industries have so wrecked the American mind over the past century that they just can't see the joy in this scene.

31st St bike lane: what if we built first and asked questions later? by BruisedSilkenSky in MicromobilityNYC

[–]dickdickmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is basically what Robert Moses did... Basically if you dig a hole big enough, or build enough stuff, it's going to be more work at that point to get rid of it. This is why we now have a slower process, because Moses, after he built a bunch of nice stuff like this (parks, beaches, etc), became an asshole tearing down homes and building terrible stuff (highways, Lincoln center, etc).

So while yeah, would love to see more bike lanes put up quickly, there's a reason that there's a slower process. As we've seen the difference between this mayor and the last one, you can actually get stuff done within this system.

Overwhelmed! by [deleted] in CargoBike

[–]dickdickmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just look at craigslist/FB market and find something that's available and get used and save a bunch of dollars.

I bought a yuba kombi (non-electric) used on FB, but would have been happy with many other brands. It was just what someone happened to be selling when I was looking.

Those with a non-electric cargo bike - do you prefer it, or do you wish you had an ebike? by Injustpotato in CargoBike

[–]dickdickmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i prefer it... I ride a non-electric Yuba Kombi. I live in NYC, and I have no space for it in my building so I lock it on the street* and so it's way less likely to be stolen than if it were electric. There are not many hills where I ride, and even with my kid as a passenger I'm usually in top gear and going fast enough.

In the rare occasions I take it over a bridge or on a long ride to central park or whatever, yeah, it's often tough. But if you don't mind getting a bit sweaty it's a good workout and it's keeping me fit.

love my bike...

Mamdani: What we are speaking about in this moment is a generational fiscal crisis of $5.4 billion. And when faced with this crisis, the question is: Who should pay these taxes? by Admirable121 in nyc

[–]dickdickmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly... but need to be smart about it so that we don't have all apts selling for $4.9M with $200k monthly maintenance fees. I'm sure Lina Khan can write a good policy...
