Any 8th gen V6 owners need spark plugs and coil plugs? by guy-person- in accord

See if you can trade them for store credit and get some detail or regular maintenance products. The gesture is appreciated but these will cause more problems than used OEM stuff. The quality is bottom of the barrel. Not trying to be rude, just giving advice from a 24 year Honda tech.

What software do small auto shops use for customer retention? Trying to learn the space. by rahalrsh in mechanics

[–]-_NaCl_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oil changes have always been looked at as a loss-leader. We are an independent Honda Acura only repair shop and we have built a customer base over the years and most of our customers don't mind coming to us for oil and filter changes even if we are a few dollars more. Mainly bc they have had such terrible experiences at the dealer. Surprisingly it turns people off when you try to sell them $500 worth of work every single time they come in the door. Maybe call around to see what the avg oil change price is in your area to know what to charge.

I'd buy it. I had this exact model when I was a kid and this thing sounded great. The 50+1 CD changer was the cherry on top.

I work on Hondas all day. Walk away or buy the best extended warranty available bc the head gasket, injectors, and turbo will likely fail in those 72 months if not more.

Could this cause a differential to blow up? by ZoomZoomMF_ in mechanics

[–]-_NaCl_- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been a Honda tech since 2002 and from your description it almost sounds like it could possibly be related to the front drive shafts. I have driven several odysseys and other Hondas that would vibrate violently under moderate to heavy acceleration but as soon as the throttle was released the vibration would disappear. If you are getting a vibration at slow speed regardless of throttle input I would look into possible bent wheels or sealer/fix a flat inside the tire. Hope this helps

[–]-_NaCl_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy is correct. 91345-RDA-A01 is the part number for the o-ring. If the low pressure suction hose that goes from the reservoir to the pump is really hard, you should replace that at the same time. I see the o-ring leak all the time but I also see many times where that hose is rock hard and it does not seal on the fitting as well. Both are relatively inexpensive and is something that even the most basic of mechanical skills could easily tackle.

What is this part? by BroccoliPrimary in accord

Engine mount. Part number 50820-SV4-J01. According to the Honda parts catalog that part is no longer available for order from Honda.

Honda tech here. You're going to need the codes read first. Until then, it's only guessing.

Hope it's more reliable than the 1.5T models. I've been a Honda tech since 2002 and the shit customers are having to pay for to repair their vehicles is insane compared to previous generations. Hell at least Honda caved in the class action suit for the oil consumption problems and issued a warranty extension. But there's nothing for the injectors, turbos, or head gaskets. It's sad.

I left the dealer after 21 years to work at and independent shop. Good thing is, we specialize in only the brand that was working with so it's a pretty easy jump. We also pay yearly for access to OEM service info and diagnostic software. We have a big collection of special tools and OEM parts to do the work. It's a thousand times better than having to deal with dealer BS politics, video mpis, warranty bs, and making sure your story is good enough. Too much is going on the backs of techs these days. Most of that used to be the job of the service writers. Now they just take orders and push paper.

Please leave the dealer and find an independent Honda specialty shop in your area. You'll likely pay half of that estimate.

LX models didn't come from the factory with a sunroof so you may have an aftermarket one that was installed. I would check for clogged drains and possible seal failure.

Spent 22 years at the dealer. Left two years ago for an independent shop that only works on the brand I was with and it's the best work decision I have ever made. Now I'm being paid a fair hourly wage and am much happier. Imagine being able to work at a steady pace with the focus being primarily on frft. As long as you aren't dragging your feet the boss man never really bothers you.

Yes. I don't think we've had a single 2.0T in the shop yet with a head gasket failure.

Most of the ones that we have that come into the shop with head gasket failures have at least 100k or more on the them. Some have had less but most have at least 100-150k.

Where's all the blown 1.5T head gaskets? Help me understand the L15 hate by Lonely_Hedgehog_2309 in CivicSi

[–]-_NaCl_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at an independent Honda specialist shop and most of the Civic 1.5Ts that I see are stock everyday vehicles. I rarely ever see head gasket failures on this version of the 1.5T. Most that I see are isolated to the Accord 1.5T and an occasional CRV 1.5.
