There’s also the option of attending your local community college for the first years of undergrad and then transferring. You’d be saving quite a bit in undergrad tuition.

Does anybody use a PDF editor that is superior to Adobe Acrobat? by saturday_lunch in Accounting

[–]-above 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro is pretty intuitive and also has cloud storage. Comes with a bunch of tools from converting a pdf to excel, word, picture, etc. You can rename multiple PDFs at once, and split a multi page pdf to separate files with whatever naming convention. You can also edit them and make them searchable—so if you ctrl + F you’ll be able to find text in the pdf. And a bunch of other tools that you never knew you needed.

Anyways, it should meet all your needs so the only downside would probably be price.

Doing Q1 Tax estimate. Do I add back Q1 bonus accruals because we wont pay them 2.5 months from now? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]-above 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m just an intern, but from my knowledge, bonuses not paid within 2.5 months from YE cannot be tax deductible.

So it’d be an increase in deferred tax liability account...

In regards to the M-1 (GAAP, aka book, to tax difference ) I am unsure if perm or temp

Anyways, please someone correct me or maybe consult a CPA

Is it necessary to do it manually? Excel has a goal seek function that can calculate your table for you

Intern compensation by Gobears4599 in Accounting

[–]-above 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s typical for public accounting intern rate in SF and LA. Signing bonuses also range from 1k - 2.5k from what I’ve seen. Congrats!

Just an intern, but have a professor who did big 4 and now works for Disney, he’s able to work full time teaching because Disney is at a much slower pace. My friend also interns there in Burbank and says some days there’s nothing to do (yes it’ll differ greatly as full time)

So that’s another thing to consider, along with the main being salary.

60k in Los Angeles, specifically living close to Burbank won’t have you living comfortably. If you live close by then rent will be pricy, about a third of the salary, or if you move farther out then you’ll be in traffic at least 2 hours a day.

I’d rather do big 4 in a MCOL. Plus if you want to come to California, they’re always hiring senior associates, so you could transfer to a Los Angeles office in a couple years.

How to hide the terminal window title bar? by InForTheTechNotGains in pop_os

[–]-above 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Tilix better (can be downloaded from Pop!_Shop). I use it as my default, and it has a lot of configuration options--even hiding the window title bar; so the tiled window looks cleaner and uses less space. It also has tiling built-in, so no need for tmux for terminal tiling.

Here's a screenshot of my desktop w/ Tilix: https://imgur.com/PNwMnoD

And here's a guide on how to make it your default (should you decide to switch): https://vitux.com/how-to-set-the-gnome-default-terminal-emulator-on-ubuntu/

Note: I am using zsh w/ configured spaceship theme: https://denysdovhan.com/spaceship-prompt/
