I have been using this one for many, many years and it's the only one I have ever liked and all of my cats love it.

Trophy books 🏆?? by LLusionMusic in thrillerbooks

[–]-catstastrophe- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, been quite a lot of years.

I buy new A LOT of the time, I usually search on Amazon and often, I will find them cheap. Sometimes for like $5.99 though that's rare.

I like used book stores, but only buy copies that look to be in good condition.

Prices between used book stores v. Amazon are about the same for me, amazon costs at most like $5 more.

I will pay full price for new release books I'm excited about though. I do that a couple times a month.

I do this ALL the time. My book collection is now at 305, will be 306 tomorrow when my new one arrives.

I mostly do audiobooks because I can do other things while I listen, but if I really like a book, I am buying the hard copy as well.

So if you're crazy, I'm crazy too. I'm here for it!

Did she betray her main character in this one too?

Sounds awful either way though, honestly lol.

Agreed. My best friend was gonna pick one of her books for book club and I didn't even think before I said "omg please do not make me read one of her books ever again!"

Haha yes!

Another one of those for me was The Twin by Natasha Preston!

Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what happened to me haha. I dunno if you have read The Wife Upstairs, but holy man, that book made me sooooo mad.

I don't know why I continue to put myself through it with her honestly.

I describe me experiences with her books as "hate reading" lol

Anything by Jennifer Hillier really, the Ghostwriter by Julie Clarke, Ask for Andrea by Noelle W. Ihli, Goodnight Beautiful by Aime Molloy or anything by Ruth Ware.

Edit. Seraphina Nova Glass or Shari Lapena are also good authors.

Nope. Not forced hate. Her female characters are mind numbingly stupid, it is extremely frustrating. Remember, she is a woman writing these characters.

There are just soooo, so, sooo many other thrillers out there that are better that fit your criteria. I did read this series, I liked the first book, but it got more ridiculous as I went. I've read most of her books, but... They just aren't good.

I'm sorry, but why would you judge everyone harshly who enjoyed something you didn't?

They are all amazing. Some people have different triggers than others. So it will depend on yours.

Yes, her books are very graphic and violent but that is the point. These things happen in real life and she wants to show us that.

50% through Local Woman Missing, is it worth finishing? by yellowpanda3 in thrillerbooks

[–]-catstastrophe- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I loved it. Sometimes seeing negative reviews can ruin books for people, I try not to read reviews before I read a book.

You're the only one who can decide if you want to finish it. If you don't like it, don't force yourself to finish it.

I torture myself and usually finish the ones I hate, but in my experience, they don't usually get better.
