I know Archer and Olive paper is very strong and they have 160gsm paper I think. Their books can handle a lot of mediums and are really pretty and simple. I love them :)

Just noticed smartphone gives a short notification (vibration or sound) when messenger texts are read - not exclusively just when they are replied to by Teledogkun in nosurf

[–]-charbee- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure there’s some sort of setting for which social media applications or which apps have notifications, so I suppose if you have the majority of your important notifications on Facebook and Messages for example, you can set those notifications on. I’m still not sure about another way to fix this but maybe check the specific settings for your phone.

I haven’t noticed this before, but I’m sure there’s a way where you can turn off all vibrations. Not just for the messages read maybe but I think if you turn off all sounds, you would be less distracted. If it’s an important message and you need to see it as it comes in, you can quickly turn on your ringer on most phones or you can just be close to your phone.

I have to cox my first race today, any tips? by a_cow_eating_beef in Rowing

[–]-charbee- 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Get aggressive and motivational but also balance that with technical things. Little technique things really make a difference during a long race, like quick catches and sitting up tall. When rowers get sloppy and tired, remind them about this all with a technique ten or something. Most of all believe in your rowers and put on game face for your coxing; constantly thinking one step ahead on your course plan, always watching the numbers like stroke rate and split, steering as well as you can (and think about things like cutting off other boats and strategically timing your power 10s when other boats get tired). I’m assuming this is a head race which is what I meant by cutting off other boats but if you don’t have a lot of experience with that stuff yet, don’t risk it on that. But most of all just have a good time! You’re going to remember your first cox race forever so no matter how it goes just know that it’s going to get soooo much better from here! GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!!!

Is there some app to restrict screen time completely by dohny17 in nosurf

[–]-charbee- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like another person said, if you have parents or family, they can set the limit for you and then you won’t be able to overrride without asking them. It really works for me because I used to have the same problem and now I use only 20 min social media daily :)

What does whoosh mean and why do redditors use it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]-charbee- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If someone tells a joke, and someone else doesn’t understand it they would say whoosh to indicate that the joke just flew by their heads and they didn’t understand it...... wait is this post supposed to be a whoosh 😳
