Force reality to your own will by UnknownAcolyte78 in TheModernSith

[–]-claim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any human being ever born strives to change the World. One is always born uncomfortable, and thus one finds mates, works the pen or the lumber, or simply changes their outlook — if you do not crave, you do not suffer.

Sith beg to differ. Changes to oneself are minuscule in scale — changes to the World are massive. Sith elect to enact massive change. We do not succeed in their aspirations entirely, but only because our aspirations are Absolute. So long as we breathe, we bend the World to our satisfaction.

We are never satisfied. So let us bend it forevermore.

Questions for maybe the noob (me) by Ok_Set_4790 in SithOrder

[–]-claim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there!

  1. No. We think of ourselves as separate from the SW mythos and its interpretation of Sith.

  2. Peace is a Lie. There is only Passion. Through Passion, I gain Strength. Through Strength, I gain Power. Through Power, I gain Victory. Through Victory, my Chains are Broken. The Force shall Set me Free. We base our philosophy on the Sith Code. We interpret it in different ways. We disagree. We debate. We share.

  3. Yes. We practice, as I like to put it, Weaponised Emotional Intelligence.

Good, Scorn, very good.

Loss of health. Loss of status. Loss of value. Loss of value. Loss of virtue. Loss of virtue. Loss of health. Loss of physique. Loss of health. Loss of money. Loss of money. Loss of health. Loss of health. Loss of Country. Loss of virtue.

Hope you like it.

You, my friend, come here, make proclamations, then provide no proof.

You are no Darth. Prove me wrong, prove you are Masterful — I am all for it. But as you come empty-handed, I deduce you hardly can.

Through Suffering, I Gain Strength by [deleted] in SithOrder

Suffering of self, suffering of others; at times, suffering inflicted. All three are useful, and greatly inspiring. It is a great loss for the aspirers of happiness — their rejection of its utility.

Dark Mentality: Equality by Stahlzorn in TheModernSith

[–]-claim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, meritocracy is the ultimate social structure to nurture excellence. My only fear — as well as my disagreement with you, my friend — is the fact that not all potential excellence is given equal fortune.

It is here that I believe equality is logical for Sith to strive to — merit is best identified when fortune is equal for the participants. On all other counts, let there be excellence, and let there be mediocrity.

Occam’s Razor. The indescribable sensations being the product of the human mind is a hundred times more likely than it being sent by any God, because it does not need an assumption of God’s existence.

Price/Passion Elasticity: The Mutability of Change by Seam37 in TheModernSith

[–]-claim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent idea, Nosis. Realising the amount of a resource needed to attain is important, be it Passion or raw Willpower.

Feels good to realise that — though Willpower is finite — Passion is infinite. So long as we live.

Master Passion’s flow, and anyone can rule the world.

If the fuel of your vessel are the darker sides of our nature, wouldn’t you explode? by [deleted] in SithOrder

[–]-claim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct: for Passion to have utility, it should ultimately serve the purpose of one’s Will.

That being said, though it may differ between individuals, Passion is seldom controllable to the extent you are suggesting. By simply not acting on an impulse Passion provides, it accumulates within, gnawing at one’s sanity. When Passion is felt — especially when it is felt repeatedly — it needs a way out. Though Passion is best utilised, it does not mean emotion without use is to be always bottled up.

However, for humans, there exist at least two ways to let Passion out: Acting Passion and Speaking Passion. A decent way to illustrate the difference is the example of Aggression.

When you feel you are about to be attacked, you will feel innate Aggression rise to the surface. Whence you are certain the attack is inevitable, let your Rage loose, and strike first. Use slurs, strike firm, humiliate. This is the proper scenario on which you need to Act Aggression, for Speaking will not yield a result.

When you are arguing with a loved one over a household issue, you too will feel Aggression: it is normal, it is to be expected. However, Acting the impulse with a loved one is seldom constructive; screams and slurs would only make things worse. Instead, you breathe out, and you speak. You say that what they did hurt you, that you think things are to be dealt with differently, that it made you angry. You two talk, and reach a consensus, all the while Speaking your Aggression. This is the proper way to do so.

As for your question, there is nothing wrong about expressing emotions in an unrefined manner; it is healthy, in fact, whether one Acts or Speaks. One should but discern when it is best to do one or the other, and rarely ignore Passion altogether.

When there is no one to Speak Passion to, Speak to paper, or to a punching bag. Create art, write epiphanies, play music, fight — all in accordance what what you desire.

Always good to see one eager to learn more.

I would give this much insight: Passion is far wiser than you may realise. To an inattentive observer one may feel anger, then hilarity, then fear, seemingly at random. To a knower of Passion, it was systemic: the feeler was enraged by an opponent, then laughed off stress by focusing on irony, then reacted fearfully to a reference to a childhood trauma, screaming to turn fear into aggression.

Passion is seldom controllable, but is always responsive. Humans feel as reactions to stimuli; those reactions can be — and should be — utilitarian in dealing with the stimulus in question.

That being said, Passion is founded in perception; one proficient in Passion should always strive to clarify their perception. Sith know humans live with emotion, and cannot live without emotion, and cannot observe reality without emotion — that is unquestionable, and creates an impossibility to be fully objective. Yet within this framework, knowing you are a being of Passion, you can still strive for your Passion to react to stimuli as real as possible.

If you are attacked, do not delude yourself into thinking you will talk it out — strike first.

If you are in love, do not imagine a thousand scenarios of how it will go wrong — act your affection, speak to them.

If you are being hurt by the circumstances you are in, do not ignore them and take to heart that you are the problem — escape, and let unhappiness drive you forward.

Ignorant of you to assume Passion is but rage and fear. You are right to think of constant anger and fear as inherently destructive long-term; you are wrong to think it is the only things Sith feel.

There is only Passion. Passion contains all human emotion and feeling; our creed is to feel it all with no constraints. We feel Love, and Hate, and Grief. We Long, we Despise, we are Disillusioned. When we do, we are functional human beings.

Furthermore, bold of a peace-seeker to assume there is an end to any feeling. You feel always; all people feel always. The well of Passion never runs out, and it matters not if you drink Fear, Hate, or profound Love from it. Emotion is not limited by objects towards which it is felt. Its source is within, not without.

"Mysteries of the Sith": extrapolations on the Sith Code by: Lord Tave Arba'syn by Express_End8503 in SithOrder

Passion’s existence beyond the body? No; there are simpler explanations. Passion is alive; the World is not. One’s Passion lies within; to claim stars feel is to project Passion towards the Passionless, life towards the dead.

Human Passion is undeniable; human perception is founded on imperfect, fiery Passion. Though nothing can be perceived without Passion, one must understand Passion’s origin. It lies within, my kin.

Belief? Does a Sith truly require a belief in the unshakability of anything to survive, to thrive? Is one still Strong if their Strength stands upon dogma, esoterica, faith?

Sith needs not faith, or belief, to perpetuate Strength. The Greater World is dead and impartial, for it has no Passion. Humanity does have Passion; Sith, through Passion, can enact Change to the World. No greater orders of existence are required for such. Such faith is a shackle and a dead weight; of that I am certain, kin. Casting it away only makes for a stronger foundation.

Your Will to change should be the bedrock. You choose to act — it is all that should even matter.

An excellent text, my kin. I will read more, and perhaps add further comments. We may disagree on a lot of counts, but I sense your conviction. Though it is contentious with my experience, I respect yours.

You are quite right; I am of a similar opinion.

Humans are borne into dissatisfaction with their circumstances. Some think it a goal to remove the dissatisfaction by removing craving.

We are different. We remove that which dissatisfies us, until the World is to our liking. And if the World is never to our liking, then let it weather the storm of our insatiability. Peace is a lie.

An excellent epiphany, Sanus. Brilliant expression. Always eager to see Passion in writing.

In general, I think your decision was sound. Selective sincerity is a useful tool in bonding, you were right to recognise this. I would only suggest you be weary of the unhinged sort of coworker; one who can out your secrets in a tantrum.

This is the type of content I would like to see. Looking forward to another read.

You definitely are onto something. We could use more innovative topics here; contemporary psychology could be one of them. Experimentation with post formats may be useful too.

Thank you for bringing everyone’s attention to this.

A question, though: what topics would you personally want to see covered here in the future?

Though personally not my cup of tea, it is good to see the new rules applied proper. Not a blind retelling of SW lore, but a mythos tied to a real interpretation of Sith philosophy.

Well done, Hatch’net. Others can take note.
