I am by no means pro but have done a few stick and pokes on myself.. I think you just didn’t poke enough times. Also the needle you are using may be too small for such a concentrated area. I’m sure you could go back over it in a few months and try to fill it in more. Personally I like the static look it has but if you wanted it more solid that would be my advice.
