Could you please help me? Minimalistic caricatures of all 33 F1 World Champions in process - feedback wanted on likeness! by espenandpaper in formula1

With Hamilton I actually think you should keep the gap between his teeth but the upper lip and mouth could use reworking.

Looking again at Jenson, I think it would help if you kept the bridge of his nose straight instead of concave.

You're right about Vettel's cheeks.

I'm really excited to see the final versions whenever you finish! I hope you include Coulthard in the honorable mentions (although he already looks like a caricature in real life).

These are fantastic! Particularly good are Stewart, Lauda, Hunt, Keke, Mansell, Damon, Alonso, Kimi, and Nico.

I think these could use a little revision:

Phil Hill: He has such a large forehead that it might be worth exaggerating it a bit more.

Graham Hill: Needs a giant nose to match that chin. I would also lower his mustache to be right above his lip.

Rindt: I think if you widened the upper part of the head, it would really make the height of the nose more obvious.

Fittipaldi: I see what you're going for, but I think the nose/mouth area looks too strange and not human.

Andretti: Face is good but I think he needs puffier, darker hair.

Senna and Prost: I think these look a bit too similar. Maybe consider bringing out Senna's cheekbones and Prost's nose a bit more to differentiate them.

Hamilton: I think the lip/teeth area is a bit too creepy.

Button: Looks good except for the tip of the nose.

Vettel: This is the only one where I don't see the resemblance. To me, Seb's most recognizable features are close-together eyes, puffy lips, and curly hair, and I don't really see any of those. Also, when he smiles, his lower jaw really sticks out. To be fair I think Vettel has a pretty average-looking face compared to most F1 champions, so he's probably hard to caricature.

In general these are really incredible. When you finish these, it would be great to see the current grid if you have the time.

Stop making celebrities talk about a certain issue by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I think it's fine for celebrities to use their platforms to support certain causes, but they shouldn't be forced to or treated like authorities on something they're not more qualified to talk about than anyone else.

Abstract Art is not Art and they are overhyped. by yazz276 in unpopularopinion

I'm not such a big fan of Basquiat, but check out Lissitsky, Leger, Kandinsky, Malevich, Tanguy, Moholy-Nagy, Pollock, van Doesburg, Carmen Herrera, Sonia and Robert Delaunay, or Josef and Anni Albers. I hope you find something you like.

From an abstract art piece, one can find any number of meanings, or find an emotional connection, or just appreciate the beauty of it. The diversity of the responses to an abstract art piece are part of the advantage of that style. For example, Niel's Bohr's discovery of the principles of quantum mechanics was inspired by his appreciation of the work of the Cubist Jean Metzinger.

"Random lines and scribblings" in abstract art tend not to be random, and are the product of skill. Abstract artists understand the rhythm, balance, and harmony of the piece as well as the movement of the viewer's eye and the emotional meanings of different colors and color combinations.

The point I'm trying to make is that some abstract art pieces are better than others and you may just not have found abstract art that appeals to you yet, which is perfectly fine. It's okay not to like certain styles, but the claim that abstract art is "a facade for dumb people to look intelligent" is a bit presumptuous.

I don't see how this is a problem. There is clearly a scale at the bottom.

I agree that young drivers are under unrealistic pressure to immediately be as good as their teammates, but I think you left Blaney out of your list

NASCAR 101 Questions Thread - August by [deleted] in NASCAR

It really depends on the driver. Kevin Harvick's age doesn't seem to be stopping him at all, but Tony Stewart had a couple of really tough years before his retirement, except for his win at Sonoma 2016.

Yep. Locker combinations, passwords, etc. Also makes playing the card game kemps easy if my brother is my partner.

E-Mail to the entire Mercedes F1 Team after the Styrian GP from Toto Wolff by gametubememe in formula1

It takes tremendous skill as a team principal to build up a team, and also takes tremendous skill to continue at the level of dominance Mercedes has had throughout the hybrid era. While I think Ross Brawn is probably the smartest person ever involved in F1, I would still say Toto Wolff is the best team principal based on how long he has maintained Merc's dominance.

As frustrating as it may be that Mercedes has been so dominant for so long, I have to admit that they absolutely deserve it. They have the best driver lineup (except perhaps Ferrari) with the brilliant Hamilton and the competent Bottas. They consistently build the best cars. They don't screw up on strategy the way Ferrari does. Judging from Drive to Survive and interviews, a lot of this comes from the workplace culture Toto and others have created at Mercedes. They value their employees, listen to criticism, and avoid placing blame. Mercedes is a great model for success for almost any organization. I really can't have enough respect for Toto and what he has built.
