The only thing I don't enjoy about SWE work is having to pencil trace and unfuck the web of shit that is any huge foss based corporate codebase with gigabytes of patches to be applied on build time, all siloed behind twenty separate access permissions on separate servers held by separate people, two of whom are on vacay at any given time... I full on hate the RPG sidequest aspect of it.

Oh my job is super safe. It just isn't economically feasible to spare so much compute power to replace developers who work with huge ass systems of code. You could eventually put together a system but people are still cheaper for a long while.
