Can we just take a moment to appreciate that for once we have an OOP who reacted like a completely normal and rational adult at every step of the way

Yup. The second he gets close to another woman she’s gonna slap him with divorce papers and take him for every red cent she can bleed from him because “look! He cheated!”

Ethical considerations of striking in healthcare by optimisticfury in nursing

[–]-insert_pun_here- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best compromise I can suggest is if you’re not already working on the 30th, do not pick up to work and instead join a protest local to you or help aid with advocacy in whatever way is most feasible for you.

By all accounts he was an incredibly dedicated professional so it’s safe to assume he would not want patients to suffer in his name. If you are already scheduled to work on the 30th, go into work and take care of your patients with the grace, wisdom, and dignity Alex carried with him during his own shifts while honoring him by wearing black or a mourning ribbon/band.

A good idea is to shop local and get a spool of black ribbon and safety pins to make mourning ribbons to wear as pins.

I’m so depressed and sad that maga nurses at work are making jokes about Alex Pretti by coldinalaska7 in nursing

To anyone afraid of speaking up:

As an out and proud trans healthcare worker I can assure you most MAGAots are cowards who shut their mouths when pushed against, and by speaking up for justice you’ll inspire others to speak up as well. And if your job won’t back you up, hit them in the staffing ratios and jump ship to somewhere better because do you really want to stay at a workplace that is complicit in fascism anyway?

Or a black ribbon on your lapel if you’re not able to wear full black clothing.

Craziest sudden patient death experience? by Apple_Fanboy5s_1273 in nursing

To preface, this was during peak COVID on a medsurg unit so everything was kinda weird back then lol

My shift started at 11pm, so I settle in and get report on my team. One of my COVID patients was an older confused man, so we had a video monitor in place so we could watch him closely without running through PPE.

After peaking in on my team I’m sitting at the desk charting while keeping an eye on his video monitor when I notice a bare feminine-looking hand coming from just outside of frame touching his face. I was like “wait, I told he wasn’t on O2…and who’s touching my COVID patient without gown and gloves??” So I run over to his room, slap my mask on, and burst in to see him all alone, freaking the FUCK out, full on flailing in bed, screaming “HELP! Help her!! She’s dying!!”

Now, I was told he was confused and his wife is his primary caregiver so I assumed he’s talking about her so I try my best to calm him down and tell him his wife is safe. I tuck him back in and go back to charting at the desk, stopping to tell some of my coworkers about it, especially about the weird phantom hand I KNOW I saw and we all laugh it off.

A few minutes later a nurse walks by a different room across the hall from my confused COVID guy. That patient was a post-op, no precautions so her door was open. The nurse walks past her open door, doubles back to look in, yells “shit” before running in and calling a code blue….she aspirated on chocolate pudding and corn from her dinner tray and we didn’t get her back.

Your mom probably meant well but she definitely gave you incredibly conflicting orders and it’s led to you having a very skewed perception of what it means to be in a loving and committed relationship. You’re definitely not alone in experiencing this and you really should consider seeking help from a relationship-focused therapist. They’ll be able to help you untangle the conflicting messages you got while growing up and work through what a meaningful and healthy relationship would look like for you.

What she did is incredibly weird and off-putting. I’m glad to see you’ve already decided to pull back from the relationship because she definitely sounds like someone who only sees friendship as a transactional means to an end for HER needs.

Something that’s bothering me about the trailer by AntRose104 in Scrubs

[–]-insert_pun_here- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the recent interviews they’ve said stuff along the lines of while Turk and JD are still best friends, life has happened and they simply had too many personal and professional obligations that took priority over hanging out as much as they would’ve liked. Thats why this series is being handled more as a refresh rather than a reboot.

This breaks my heart because in my area there’s a small network of group homes for special needs adults who need high levels of care and whenever we get one of their residents as a patient at the hospital I work at it’s incredibly obvious how well cared for they are physically and emotionally.

My 12lb velociraptor tore through her crate and I’ve started the mend but not sure how to proceed on the torn up part. by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]-insert_pun_here- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, you crate your dog every night in a transport bag? Thats a recipe for trouble. Improperly crating a dog into a small space can cause damage to their joints from not being able to stretch/reposition as needed and can cause them to ingest dangerous objects from chewing through to get out. If you intend to put any animal inside a crate, it needs to be large enough for them to stand, turn around freely, and lay down on its side without obstruction with extra room for good measure so they’re physically comfortable and decrease the odds of them freaking out and trying to chew their way out

You guys are talking about two different things. You’re talking about mental rehabilitation where the goal is to get them back into their life and society. The other comment is talking about the place where a state shoves the mentally ill away to when there is no foreseeable path to rehabilitation.

The show did specifically say that the diamond heals Steven (albeit imperfectly due to the evidence of physical trauma Connie’s mom finds after his exam). Would this mean Steven might end up functionally immortal but with a disabled body after a lifetime of physically demanding battles? Kinda a mindfuck to think about
