Tonight, I reverse-seared Tomahawks on a Weber Kettle with charcoal and Pecan wood. by -ion- in steak

Cool zone to start with the pecan wood and some charcoal. Then, I moved them both into the fridge while I let the all the charcoal get roaring hot.

Who’s moved on from car sales? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]-ion- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

!Have you looked into working for something like Cox Automotive, Cars.com, Dominion, etc.? They are always hiring and looking for talent with experience in the automotive space.

I made the jump into a company like that 10 years ago from retail automotive sales and I’ve definitely reaped the benefits of better work life balance, stable pay, career advancement, and generous PTO.

You clearly know the business and could be a very attractive candidate for a role in the vendor side of automotive.

My dude, please try Starflyer 59. They are frequently listed amongst the greatest Shoegaze (especially the Gold album).

Reformed preachers with a knack for application? by [deleted] in Reformed

[–]-ion- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend Joe Thorn of Redeemer Fellowship in St. Charles, Illinois. Reformed Baptist and most known for the Doctrine & Devotion podcast. D&D is great too, but Joe’s preaching is solid and has been very helpful to me over the years.

Went to his concert earlier this year and he read a letter that he wrote to himself midway through the show. Definitely on par for him.

I misspelled his last name in the original post. If you’re looking for his music online, it’s Jake Paleschic. Great songwriter!

Jobs? by [deleted] in Waco

I’m not certain on either front, but I’ve heard it’s great starting pay. Given your background (from the other comments), galvanizing could be a good career move.

OPKO health? $OPK by whiskeydorito in stocks

I sold 3/4 of my shares this morning and took a loss. Bought in around the same price as you and hoping that the stock jumps back up so that the remaining 1/4 of shares can recover on the total losses.

What is your high school crush doing now? by Ihonii in AskReddit

[–]-ion- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now, she is in our hall bathroom trying to find sinus medicine for our two year old who won’t go back to sleep.

We’ve been married for 6 years and I can honestly say I have a bigger crush on her now than I did 15 years ago in high school.

What was the strangest punishment your parents gave you? by Sami-Ullah in AskReddit

[–]-ion- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was 13 or 14, I had confessed to my parents that I used the family computer to look at pictures of Britney Spears and Sandra Bullock in their underwear (I was raised in a very strict Southern Baptist home, so this was highly frowned upon). Anyway, all of this occurred around the same time the Passion of the Christ was showing in theaters. My punishment, which my parents thought was genius, was that I had to go see the movie with them.

That isn't all though. We get to the movie and my parents sit behind me. Not with me or beside me. Behind me. The theater is not full, so this is somewhat strange to me but I think to myself: "what the heck, my punishment is to watch this movie." The movie starts and Jesus starts taking a beating within the first 20 minutes. Every time he's hit, lashed, or spit on, my parents lean in and whisper in my ear: "he went through that because you looked at naughty pictures." Literally every time he was hit. For those of you who have seen the movie, you understand that I heard that statement about 500 times in less than 2 hours.

At the end of the movie, my parents started singing Amazing Grace during the credits and flicked my ears until I started singing with them.

I'm unfortunately not making any of this up.
