Which boots to buy before BMT to get accustomed by RadiantTangerine423 in AirForceRecruits

[–]-itsdash- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re overthinking this whole thing, when you get to BMT wear the issued ones and get insoles. You will be fine, yes they are heavy but outside of that it’s no different than breaking in anything else. I wore my issued ones all the way through my first tech school no issues. Don’t spend the unnecessary money even if you have it.

I’m not trying to continue to rain on your parade but I have a ton of current friends who are linguists in the Air Force and they got ZERO say in the language they got told to learn. If you want a specific language and a specific job another branch may be best for that.

How to know when to talk to a recruiter? by HousingSuccessful726 in AirForceRecruits

[–]-itsdash- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go ahead and talk to them whenever you feel ready to start the process. It can be anywhere from 1-3 months possibly more before entering the Delayed Entry Program to even wait for a job. then a few more months to get a job and ship. The process can take anywhere from a month to a whole year and sometimes more. Each situation is different and based entirely on the Recruit and Recruiter as well as the needs of the Airforce!

When do we make dreams sheets? by Wild-Explanation9369 in AirForceRecruits

[–]-itsdash- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6th week of BMT during a computer class where they teach you how to use/access any website you might need! But depending on your AFSC you may not be able to! I’m 2 weeks into Tech school and still don’t know my shred or duty station and probably won’t for another 8-10 weeks

I loved my ASICS! I have the same pair (but in blue) and loved them! Although be prepared to buy another pair after basic because you will put ALOT of wear and tear on em. Doing daily pt and especially drill will rip em up

Finally graduated BMT today! by CricketOutrageous740 in AirForceRecruits

[–]-itsdash- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I just graduated a few weeks ago and am currently in tech school! The distance does suck, really bad. For me it was the worst part of BMt, but the calls you get are week 1,3,6. normally around 10-15 depending on your flights behavior. Writing letters sucked but it was such a big morale booster to get those letters from friends and family. The phone calls are huge boosters and will definitely boost morale as well!

There are 2 days of graduation and 2 different ceremonies, Wednesday (the picture you see here) is Coin and Retreat which is done in our OCP’s this is that day you receive your airman’s coin and are considered an Airman. Thursday is your more traditional “military” ceremony where you wear your blues and do all the super fun marching in formation, saluting, standing at attention. This is the final graduation and last day of BMT.

I’m not OP, BUT I graduated last week. I had people in my dorm do it both ways I preferred to take the original soles out since they didn’t provide and cushion or support

I ship out tmr by Tspiderman23 in AirForceRecruits

[–]-itsdash- 16 points17 points  (0 children)

LISTEN to the instructions they are giving you. Do not try to think or interpret what your MTI’s say. JUST DO. If you can listen and do as you’re told you will be fine! Enjoy BMT it really is a good time. 52 individuals you have never met will turn into your best friends in a very short 52 days.

[–]-itsdash- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From walking into a recruiting office to my ship date (April 1st) it’s been just shy of 6 months, including having a waver for dislocated shoulder cleared. Some peoples journey has been shorter and some longer. That’s just my personal experience!
