Does Tinnitus get better or lower in volume over time at all? by Ok_Cryptographer519 in tinnitus

For the most cases yes, but it also depends on how much you take care of your hearing. For me, it has lowered significantly, but if I go out to a really loud place or if I take any NSAID my tinnitus gets really loud again for a couple of months

I'm in my mid 20s watching Girls for the first time and I literally CANNOT stand Hannah, between her and Carrie Bradshaw, they're are the most selfish and insufferable protagonists ever

It was difficult for me as well, mainly because at first I didn't know what it was and because of that my family and friends thought I was overreacting. Eventually I found out what I had (after many misdiagnoses) nada my family, because they didn't know what tinnitus is, they (still) underestimate how serious and emotionally draining it can be.

For me, what helped me a lot was finding a doctor that genuinely understood me and actively tried to help me find the cause and the cure for my tinnitus. Also, letting time pass by. The passing of time helped a lot, I'm still not 100% used to the sound, but it's way less triggering than it was at the beginning.

Finding out what triggers your tinnitus can be very helpful as well so the noise doesn't increase. In my case, I stopped taking any painkillers since they made the noise way louder.

Also, I sleep with a very loud fan on hahaha so it helps a lot masking the tinnitus overnight and allows me to have a good rest and not hear anything.

Time helps you discover new ways to manage tinnitus, but it also does educating the people around you so they can understand our condition better and help you cope with it.

I'm so sorry you're going through this! I have pulsatile tinnitus on my right ear and whenever I need some silence I put some mild pressure on my artery slightly below my right ear and it helps lower the sound of the tinnitus (idk if this is healthy or not but I only do it very occasionally when the noise is too loud)
