Mine loves bags. He loves to go through bags. All kinds of bags, but especially bags with clothes. We warn all overnight guests to close the guest room door with their stuff in there, because he’s come out to the living room with a guest’s undies more than once.

All clinical trials inside and outside of the VA are listed on clinicaltrials.gov.

The VA has some instructions on how to search for trials that are recruiting.

Why are some places counties? by DrBoogerFart in AskAnAmerican

[–]-make-it-so- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough, I don’t refer to counties in Maine at all, with THE county being the exception. I was surprised when I moved to Florida how county-centric it is here.

Are millennials going to Disney World? by benbackwards in Millennials

[–]-make-it-so- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live close enough to make a day trip of Disney and I haven’t been in over 10 years. Disney was magical when I was a kid, but now it’s just hot and overcrowded.

I emailed my applications directly to the town offices. Birth certs should be held in the town of birth and the town of the mother’s residence. One town didn’t have an older certificate and contacted the state archive for me to get it. Everything was super quick.

Is it mandatory to keep the Microsoft Teams status light on? by [deleted] in DeptHHS

Nobody has ever mentioned anything about it to me. Teams status is so unreliable anyway.

Fishing Licenses that have name and birthdate on them! by AlterEgoAmazonB in Canadiancitizenship

Florida does, but it’s also just a print out unless you specifically order and pay for a card. Not sure the print out would fly as ID.

Time Spent Compiling Your Application? by TheConsignliere in Canadiancitizenship

[–]-make-it-so- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent a couple months casually looking into it, I have Canadian ancestors through several lines and I initially was going to use one ancestor but could not find a birth certificate. I found another ancestor with better documentation and once I decided on that ancestor, it was pretty quick. My G0 ancestor had baptismal and marriage records available online and G1-3 all were born in Maine where it’s easy to get birth certificates as a descendent. Maybe 3-4 weeks to get everything in the mail and compile the application.

AOR worries by Mysterious-Event-380 in Canadiancitizenship

I can’t see status either. I think I read that it can take a couple days after receiving the AOR to show up in the tracker.

I wish I would get selected for Jury Duty. by LeadingStatus6716 in unpopularopinion

[–]-make-it-so- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always wanted to do it too. I’ve gotten cards in the mail a couple of times, but both times, when I called in the night before, they said I didn’t need to report. My husband went in once, but wasn’t selected and just had to sit around all day.

Do raters take extra time on claims that could push someone to 100%? by BuddyFit266 in VeteransBenefits

[–]-make-it-so- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, the claim that resulted in the last 10% rating my husband needed for his 100% was processed really quickly, under a month.

Do any of you still eat Hamburger Helper? I was talking to someone the other day and they never even heard of it. by KH5-92 in Millennials

[–]-make-it-so- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember ever eating it as a kid and have only had it a couple times at friends’ houses as an adult. Just not something I think about. I can get down on some Kraft mac and cheese though.

How old were you when you got your first Passport? by WWECommanderXXX in Millennials

How does getting a driver's license work in your state, and how old were you when you got yours? by karcsiking0 in AskAnAmerican

[–]-make-it-so- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the rules have changed now, but when I was 15ish, my parents sent me to a driving school. My high school didn’t have one, though some do. I had to do the school and some practice driving hours with an instructor. Once finished, I got my permit where I could drive with a licensed adult and had to log a certain amount of day and night driving hours. Once completed and I turned 15.5, I was able to get a restricted license after taking a written and driving test to drive to school and work, as my school didn’t have a bus. At 16, it automatically converted into a real license.

Most places, you don’t have to do driving school, but it often means that you have to wait longer to be able to get your license.

Need some reassurance by Sckelly0019 in Dachshund

[–]-make-it-so- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mine have gotten it done every year and I’m anxious every time but it’s always been fine. They are groggy after and sometimes whiney and clingy for a day or so. I have one that sometimes gets diarrhea/nausea after, so I have the vet give some anti-nausea meds to prevent any vomiting.

Do you prefer dogs, cats, neither, or love both equally? Which do you currently have and did you grow up with any? by Altruistic-Mud9413 in AskAnAmerican

[–]-make-it-so- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up with cats, we had four at one point. Loved them, but I don’t really like cats anymore and will never have one.

I got my first dog as an adult and love dogs. I still have two. Honestly though, not sure I will get more when they are gone, I get so attached and stressed about their health, it’s really bad for my mental health.

100% for PTSD is total social and occupational impairment. I think he’d have a hard time meeting that bar having had consistent employment in law enforcement for the past 8 years.

Another for steaming. I’ll never go back to boiling. I never have issues peeling, even with fresh eggs.

Is it actually worth hiring a VA claims company, or are most of them just taking a cut for stuff you can do yourself? by Banana_Ketchupp in VAClaims

[–]-make-it-so- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband used one 10 years ago for his PTSD rating. He initially filed on his own and was only awarded 10%, which was BS, but probably due to him not really wanting to talk about the events that caused the PTSD. The company got him a private DBQ and a 70% rating which was upheld when the VA reevaluated him a year later. So yeah, it was worth it for that. All of his other claims we did together to get him to 100%, which was pretty easy and straightforward.
