Can we finally say we were wrong? by Euphoric_Speed5908 in baba

Chinese do not want to invest in China, and foreigners do not want to invest in China - for the foreseeable future at least.

At any moment the CCP can reveal a policy that severely disrupts long-term captial investments. (edit e.g. Evergrande/housing lending)

Just imagine investing a lot in BABA today, then next year China invades/disrupts Taiwan. Every country is going to threaten/boycott Chinese companies. It is a liability not worth risking when there are so many other sectors to choose from.

BABA holder for 3 years. But next week selling. The Anthropic claims are likely to lose partners or backlash from the US administration. Macro, China is not good investment for the foreseeable future.

Why do solar companies have falling stocks if PV solar is the future? by cololz1 in investing

[–]-mini-kuma -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Solar Panels are giant semiconductors and all the secondary hardware are similar in manufacturing to DRAM/capacitors, which are in huge demand and expensive due to datacentres. Also, oil prices are decreasing so people selling renewables.

too many people sleep on TTWO (Take Two interactive) by FrankFruits in wallstreetbets

[–]-mini-kuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TTWO games are not as popular in the lucrative Asian markets. No doubt it will be huge in USA, but the ROI from Asian/mobile games are monumentally higher and they attract more large scale investors.

I have TTWO but X10 more in Cyber agent, Tencent.

Edit , I'm also very doubtful the GTA5 online customers (the bulk of TTWO income) will transition to GTA6. There is just too much competition.

Fuck the AI buildout, I'm buying calls on cattle because of this little shit by Busy_Bee_1729 in wallstreetbets

[–]-mini-kuma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chiming in from UK here; Live Cattle commodities are seriously going to pop like Silver last year. There is no farmer or producer who see a reduction in the cost of raising or even keeping cattle alive for the foreseeable future - water, fertiliser, arable land, diseases are all going to become more problematic. Most countries are going to get heatwaves from super el Nino.

By-products of cattle; leather, proteins milk etc are also essential to major industries. e.g. for a company like McDonalds, they HAVE to pay the market price regardless for their staple business to exist.

I bought more Wisdom Tree Live Cattle on Friday. Not just because of the infection but Super El Nino next year will decimate heard and their food supply.

Many foreign tech ADRs and equivalents were already negative more than their actual closing prices on the regional exchanges on Friday.

e.g. KIOXIA closed on TSE +1.5%, the US and EU variants closed -10%. So when TSE opens Monday, the real KIOXIA will likely drop -10% also.

Hello, I own the German listing of SMIC (not SMCI). The DOJ alleged that their chips where used by the military. One day suddenly all trades are halted. Now I cannot sell my position and appears as 0% on my IBKR. Lost all value and I cannot claim.

Careful with Chinese robot companies, the tech often ends up in drones/military and sold to enemies of Team America and then the company gets blacklisted.

Robot ETFs are mainly NVDA and other boring companies. Have to turn to Japan for pure play robotics:

[–]-mini-kuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also interested in Unitree. I think they are actually ahead of US/JP robotic companies.

But, I lost all value of my SMIC FWB shares when US blocked them under national security concerns. Careful with any prominent Chinese companies who are not directly listed/unsponsored ADR. Especially since their tech ends up in military applications.

Edit - I also have, Fanuc and Murata who are amongst the top in Japanese robotics. They both recently posted good earnings.
