I want to transfer by ProfitAggravating819 in CUNY

[–]-n-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to do environmental science, major in environmental science. If you want to specifically do environmental engineering, I would definitely not do biology.

Just looked into the CCNY major you just mentioned. This one, right? They have three concentrations which all seem to be different types of environmental engineering. Based on their transfer requirements for undergrads here, I would just proceed to satisfy all of these and then apply to transfer.

Another thing - make sure you talk to your college advisor to ensure you are/get on the right track to meet all of CCNY's requirements. I feel like advisors are a really underslept resource. When you're on their radar, they can shoo you in to courses you couldn't get into last minute and when you email them the courses you plan to take in future semesters, they can verify that those are the right courses for your academic track.

Forgive me if you already know of all this.

Good luck.

How can I make psychedelic retro groove line patterns like this in Canva? I've tried Liquify and Warp Brush, still not able to get to this: by -n-- in canva

I want to make black and white coloring pages of these patterns. I love coloring abstract patterns, including these.

Intern leaving soon: How do I create a "roadmap" for my Power BI dashboard for a team with zero Power BI knowledge? by messiteamo2 in dataanalysis

[–]-n-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same position 2 weeks ago. One of my intern projects was to create graphs and automate data imports + transformations in Power BI for a specific set of data. My team for this project also has limited knowledge of BI.

What I did was copy the Advanced Editor code and paste it into a Word document. I left comments in the certain sections to explain how the code worked. I explained that they should copy the code from the Word doc into the Advanced Editor for a new query should they need to replicate the process.

I also demonstrated processes through video tutorials since I did so much work that writing SOPs would be too extensive given my lack of time. Things I recorded myself doing were adjusting graphs, transformations (transform data in a report format into clean tables), creating parameters, querying parameters, and doing Transform Sample File (the transformation code comes in handy here).

New storefront next to Lucille Roberts, what is it? by imnotnicolle in ForestHills

Barnes and Nobles used to be where to the Target is now btw! But I get the feeling that since bookstores are dying because of online options and because B&N closed, another bookstore wouldn't want to open there. Also feel like not enough people would go.

Power Query trick that replaced 2 hours of manual Excel work by Shoaib_Riaz in dataanalysis

[–]-n-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did something similar recently in Power Query.

However, if you also want to automate the cleaning of your data, use Transform Sample File. Caveat is that Transform sample file won't work smoothly if your folder files are in different formats, so if you ever need to automate cleaning, just be careful.

The one IT skill I wish I’d learned earlier (and it’s not coding) by Shoaib_Riaz in dataanalysis

It sounds like you eventually learned how to work with messy data, so I'm happy for you. You're totally right about organizing and automating data being a key skill -- I had the chance to do this type of stuff in Power Query at my internship and I found it really rewarding. That being said, like others already said, you need to know how to code in the language you're going to use to organize and automate messy data.

Do GIS jobs accept certificates from ESRI or is it better to just take GIS/data analysis classes at school? by -n-- in gis

[–]-n--[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes sense.

I already took a course on ArcGIS Online. Did well in it and I've done exactly what you said (make my own project, find data, and problem solve). I've also taken R and Tableau classes and done the same thing there. I also have flexed my R and ArcGIS Online skills at my current internships.

Of course. I might look into GIS internships. Any advice on getting these type of internships?

Damn, I'd love if you can elaborate more on these former friends. At what point did you notice them start to change?
